Question For the engine boffins - Stroker plates and cylinder liners

What would be the best material to make a 12mm stroker sandwich plate from in order to run liners through it to create a tallblock?
Going on the OSG Skyline motor it uses a billet aluminium spacer.
Should the stroker plate use a gasket or is it bonded?
Are stepped liners better and where should the steps ideally be positioned?
Is it a good idea to use a step through the stroker plate?

All input welcome even engine Guru and dog lover (in the full sense of the term...lol) Phil
