Default transit keys are they all the same?

in our workshop at the moment we have two 57 plate transits in a van and a minibus, for some reason there was a mix up with the keys,

someone was tried to start the van with the minibus keys by mistake,
after trying to get it started with no joy the AA were called, again no luck starting it, the van was then sent to the dealer to have the key/immobilizer reprogrammed. the van comes back and all is well.

until today, i go to start work on the minibus, we cant find the keys anywhere, eventually they're found in the ignition of the van, so i try to start the minibus, nothing, the ignition lights come on and that's it. again the AA are called, and again the minibus goes to the dealer.

the thing we found strange was that the keys were exactly the same, they would both lock and unlock both vehicles, the only difference was the immobilizer codes. is this the same with all transits now?

No, either there was a huge coincidence (4*4*4*4*4*4 to 1) or theres been a fuck up somewhere along the line.

As above - you can usually LOCK a similar Ford with a different key, but not unlock...

We have about 5 Transit Connect's and 3 full size Transits, and you can lock ANY of them with ANY key, but you can't unlock them without their own key. Funny to see this thread as my manager was sorting out the spare keys yesterday and had two with no lable on them and I had to yell just in time to stop her trying the key in the ignition of the van she thought it might be, cos it locking the ECU up like in the OP's post....
