Default allways use axle stands

in my lifetime i have seen two people die from cars falling ontop of them, bro in law was nearly the next

in workshop, transit up on a bottle jack was welding, wheel off etc, the van slid off the jack and came crashing down, the actual drum slid down his side of his face, the only reason hes still alive is the van rolled forward a tad, he would not be here today if it hadnt

talk about shock to the system, he really was centimeters from death

yes hes a fucking plonker and i gave him a right bolloking, even worse was hearing it fall and running up to the van expecting the worst
god was on his side that day

My Boss had a car fall of a shitty skoda jack in the week, sliced his hand quite badly! That was only changing a wheel!

Since my brother messed about saying "Im gonna drop the car on you" and then accidently twisting the jack (To undo) and the car fell on my shoulder. Luckly I was not further under the car... I had a fear of a car dropping anyway, but now I will reluctantly get under a car even WITH Axle stands and a jack to support it!! I wont use car ramps as I fear they could give way (Yes I am paranoid )

Glad your bro in law wasn't killed mate...

I learnt the hard way (nearly) that Sierra jacking points are good at coming away from the car when used with the shitty Ford jack.

Since then always use trolley jack for a start, let alone not use axle stands.

Such a simple statement and so obvious, yet we all ignore it, me included at times.

I've done it all before - even once had mates lifting a car by its door while i was under it...

Not big, not clever - caught me out a few times and i'm wiser now...

Sounds like your man had a lucky escape!
