Thats like saying we all prefer to go watch Sunday League football as its more achievable.

Always interesting to see how they do on the net afterwards etc, but when you go and watch something for entertainment you dont see Jimbob The Bakers Second 11 Womens Team getting 50,000 a match down the local playing field coming to watch them, and its the same with TA or anything else.

Plenty of CLUB cars are owned and run by tuners, plenty of PRO cars are privateers, so that cant really be a defining rule.
Its all about money, Club or Pro. If people shelled out as much dollar as Kev does they would be a big challenge to him, and some are.
The others that dont, arnt.
He just chooses to be one of the big fish in a small pond rather than one of the big fish in the sea thats got plenty of fucking great sharks.

Difference is with football, is time attack is not even the sunday league even in pro class if you are talking about motorsport as a whole, if I want to see a real spectacle i'll go and watch rallycross, if I want to see technology i'll watch formula 1, if I want to see something I can relate to and might one day manage to get into, then time attack or TOTB is a good place to go.

Im sure your comments hold true for lots of people though, so not disagreeing that there are more people following Pro class, im sure they are, Im just saying that the "no one gives a toss about" wasnt accurate as lots of us do.

I never realised so many people were into this to be honest. I was going to post up a thread a few weeks ago as I've been looking into getting some kind of car sponsored by my firm, and initially getting more involved in trackdays etc, then getting into some kind of competing. I've seen an ex-time attack R32 Skyline for sale and Ł17k for a race-prepared 600BHP car ready to compete seems like a pretty cheap way of starting out to me! Even the club class is full of some seriously skilled drivers though

Amazing to watch them properly go for it, FWD sector is still wide open only a few Hondas need to see some more challengers in there

Awesome times. Well done Kev.
So why is that?, Is it because its got my name on it,
Kevs car is a complete club class car and is one of the heaviest Evos out there, It weighs 250kilos more than the DCY club car,
Kev pays for all the running and parts for his own car and has prob a very small budget compared to the other club cars,
Yes he won last year but what diff does that maketo move upto pro he would need to add a min of 25K to this years budget care to sponsor him.

Was there with Kev everything that could go wrong did.
During qualifing split a boost hose had only 1bar or so of boost was looking for 1' 17" but didnt happen he came in worried that he had not qualified but we assured him he was 2nd. Sorted for the final off he went, he was going very slow & we knew something was wrong with either car or Kev. When he came in he was banging the steering wheel in frustration, he had lost 3rd & 4th gear & thought he may have finished last, however he finished 4th.
He needs a dogbox because the re-built box broke on the first flying lap with 700+bhp, but that costs money & Kevs used his budget hence why no weight has been taken out this year in fact the cage makes it heavier.

If you saw the Pro set-up you would not suggest him being in that class its a different planet. Kev will do well, probably win Club again but its for the others to catch up not Kev move up into a big budget arena.

Kev shouldve done Pro this year IMO, he won Club last year, should be time to move up a level as even last year he was doing Pro class times.
I think the issue with moving Kev to the pro class is that he isnt a pro driver, hes a plumber, financing a hobby out of fitting old ladies washing machines. He just doesnt have the budget to compete with Ł100k cars. Just because you win club doesnt mean you immediately become pro - not until someone pays Kev to drive for them and provides him with competitive machinery.

I think its already been said but sadly Kevs gearbox let go in the final and left him with only 2nd and 5th gears. All mark Sheads 'fault' for producing too much torque

the other point is we not all out there to win, just to be able to be out there having a go is enough,
im out there to do the best i can with what i have,i dont have a endless budget like the big teams.
what ever they do with groups they'll never please every one

as most of u know ran the escort last 2 yrs had relialbility issues last year i didnt have the funds to carry on, so escort had to go, bought the audi 400 horses alot of fun reliability (only issue all day was boost hose came off on flying qualifying lap start of start/finish straight down to a dodgy clip) just squeezed in to superbattle with a 121.7 secs , superbattle came finished 11th in class 5 points, very pleased considering 4th time out in car

Firstly let me say STAVROS you are a twat with a big mouth who should shut it. You know nothing about my car or what I spend on it. It's easy to make judgements when you don't know the facts, but that seems to be your trademark.

As for the rules about club/pro I really can't be bothered to trawl through it all, the sensible ones like Mike R and Chip understand already.

My times where actually Practice 1min 19.8secs and qualifying 1min 18.393 The weekend was a good learning curve for most of us, as the weather was so changeable. Roll on Knockhill and good luck to all.

Kev
