Default Postal orders

Why is it now when you get a postal order thats crossed ( seeing as they wont issue them non crossed anymore ) it takes 5 days to clear into your account

I thought the idea of a postal order was so it was instant cash, Barclays have now started taking 5 days to cash them

Totally defeats the object in the first place, its cheaper to send a cheque seeing as they now take the same amount of time to clear

Anyone shed any light?

Sarah

Cheques and all that shit are a total pain in the backside.

I still fail to understand how it takes a bank 6 working days to take the funds from one account and deposit them in another account? Surely 2 days max is all it should take?

All that said, i probably dont understand how it works enough to comment but it pisses me off.

Postal Orders are now in cheque form. Easier for banks to process them, so that's why.
