I would rather be banned for 3 months than get any points, I was gutted when I got my 3 points. I asked could I be banned instead.

Got off quite lightly there then considering what they could have handed out to her.

You get points OR a ban. The ONLY good thing about a ban is that if you had points on your licence prior to the ban, it comes back as a clean slate to start over. However, a ban is considered much worse than points in the eyes of your insurers, so you really DON'T want one of these if you can avoid it. With points, they only ask you if you have any points within last five years. With a ban, they usually ask if you have EVER been banned, so NOT a good thing to have on you driving resume .

I think things could have been alot worse and at least Maria gets to keep her job now as they said she would be ok with a 2-4 weeks ban IIRC. It's not great but i'm sure she will agree could have been worse....

I got around the same for 109mph average, 5 years ago, 28 day ban and £180 fine inc court costs, no points! im pritty sure only having a 28 day ban means you do not have to pay to get your licence back either! so that saves you around £30 again!

Exactly!
Why people are saying they'd rather have a ban than points is beyond me

There is that way of looking at it.
Better at a legal off road location the courts would say though of course.

Shame there arent more such venues available though, places like pod are just too much travelling for me to manage on a wednesday, by the time I go 200 miles home to fetch my car, then 200 miles to pod then 200 miles back to drop it off, then 200 miles to work the next day its 800 miles, over a 100 quid in diesel and just isnt worth it.

Hopefully more will start to appear though, they do some stuff at smeatharpe by me where I went once, so im still better off than a lot of peopel I guess, but there isnt much on there either in the grand scheme of things.

I commute weekly, and stay up here 3-4 nights a week, so no drama, but it does mean that "popping home" to fetch a different car midweek is a bit of an issue

Its more a case of no one outside of london seems to want to pay me to sit on the net all day doing nothing

Definately higher wages up this way though even for people who are prepared to actually work for a living.

Can be fun at times, But I wasn't in it for the money.. I am now
