Has anyone got the DATASHEET for Magneti Marelli's Map sensors, or know anywhere i can find the information please.
I need to know.
The Volt range of the 3bar map sensor compared to pressure.
There are more than one type of 3bar map sensor which shows different readings @ different pressure.
The types are:-
APS 05/01
SPA 05/01
If any more please let me know.
Regards
Jano

From: Macclesfield - you'll never leave....!
incidently the difference between the 2 is nothing IIRC, one is just the new version of the old original one - same characteristics.

Its in the Tech section
But il tell you now that the APS and SPA are exactly the same part.. one being a slightly different grey to the last one

Jano_OddKidd, Any reason i get different voltages from the two types of sensors? Only slight difference but its enough?
If you get 10 brand new 3 bar sensors you WILL get different readings for nearly
all of them depending on the accuracy and resolution of the measuring
device reading the voltage.
ECU's work internally by averaging these signals to reduce such errors.

if i had a visual interface (Pectel Monitor) which has been designed with a certain map sensor and programed to its stated volatge signals. If i change the map sensor to another one which has slightly different signals will the visual interface be correct.
The reason i ask is because @ idle it does change bst pressure. So if it averages out in the ECU this wouldn't happen would it? Unless the figures were far out and the averages add up different.
Jano_OddKidd, This depends on the ecu/chip, some use MAP and TPS to
estimate load at idle which stabilises fuel delivery in a pulsing manifold and to
some extend it ignores the map sensor input for a portion of time.
It is a fact of electronics and mechanics for that matter,
all components are built to a tolerance and when a part is made of many
such components, the tollerances add up differently.
Map sensors are accurate enough for the job they do but their range
will drift with age/temperature and use.
These are not laser trimmed during production otherwise they would cost
10 times as much.
Remember, It is a mass produced part after all and built to a cost.
