Default help needed with setting up running 2wd cossie

evening

i need help with setting the fuel running of my 2wd cossie, i've replaced the ECT (blue) sensor which fits in the inlet side of the head.

basically the car is running very rich, prior to fitting the ect sensor i did play around with the CO screw and the screw on the inlet.

i want to start from scratch so how do i go about it; the screw on the inlet. Do i screw it right in or out? the screw on the ECU which way makes it leaner/ rich?

not done it before so any help/ tips would be appreciated.

PS i've got a CO monitor so what should i be aiming for?

Matt

right in then 2.5 turns out is the base setting IIRC. you'll need a gas analyzer to set it properly tho.

please remember that screw is a base multiplier of the entire fuel map, so playing with it does have the ability to melt your engine

to set your base idle,

run engine up to temp
unplugg the iscv (leave engine running) (iscv is on top the throttle body grey plug)
adjust idle on throttle body screw to 900rpm
re connect iscv, and idle should stay stable.

then turn ecu screw in 5 turns, this takes it back past zero, then as jim said 2,5 turns out.

then get it set up and checked on boost, or as jim said it may melt!

JTECHSAFF, exactly what i was looking for! many thanks, do you know what the reading should be on the CO machine? what should i be aiming for?
secondly left turn (anticlockwise) i assume brings the screw out?

this is the hard thing on cossies, as the base co doesnt really mean too much.....its on boost that matters as thats where it will melt!

as a guide i would aim for around 2.5% c.o at idle.....but you MUST check it has an afr around 11 on full boost

the only way you can adjust the fuelling at the top if shes weak, is by adjusting the ecu global mod.....which in turn will effect your base co, so you can see why the base co isnt overly important, as long as it idles nicely.

ofcourse if you have a good chip, it will idle pefrectly at 2,5% (non closed loop) and have a perfect afr all over the boost curve....

thanks; its going to be one of Stu's (MSD) chips so it should be ok; its going to get set up correctly.

sorry to ask again but left turn brings the screw out on the ECU????
