When we had ours we used to use Lynx then we got bored and went on to Brake cleaner, then Butane.

We used to fire oranges using Butane gas....

A friend of mine built one of these years ago, around the time of the 9/11 attacks (well a few months after) He used a length of drain pipe as you did but a far larger chamber on the rear (and we used Back to black, seemed to work the best). To say it was a beast was an understatement. BUT..... he was caught larking around with it at work and a few members of the public rang the police as they had seen a missile type launcher weapon being used around the halfords area. 3 armed response vehicles later and the spud cannon was confiscated ! The story didn't end there either.

He had to give a statement, along with his workmates. Then when all was thought to have been done he went home.

At 3am he was woken up by banging on the door. The police raided his 2 sheds, garage and house in search of weapons making facilities. The even cornered off the cul-de-sac (sp?) to ensure there was no quick escape.

After 3 hours of questioning he was released pending further testing of said spud cannon.

He spent a couple of weeks bricking it but thankfully was let off.

The cannon went off to Chelmsford (i think) in a bomb proof enclosure and was tested, apparently the spuds were exiting at well over 500mph and he has a few photos that the police gave him of all the testing.

But fuck me was it good fun ! (oh and what a story )

(This was the same chap that originally made the Butane Flamers all those years ago)

he really was bricking it. The police had originally told him that his fine/sentence would depend on the velocity of the test projectile. He had looked on line and made a few guesstimates and knew it was quick. As I said early all ended up fine in the end

we made something similar in work with a scaffold bar and and a metal cylinder on the end, fill the cylinder with air from the compressor (120 bar) pop in a solid metal pellet we turned about 50mm diameter and open the valve, was silly used to fire clean through breezeblock walls.

ive got some vids somewhere of firing it through upvc doors lol.

Sorry but speak to comedy dan about the ultimate spud rocket!!!

My god that thing was so offensive for a saturday afternoon spent at the workshop,

That just used a 3m length of 6" underground drainage pipe, wasted spark and break cleaner!!!!!!!!!!
