Default AP paddle clutch question

On a 6 paddle AP clutch, how thick should the contact pads be when new, anybody know?

I have one that supposed to have done about 2500 miles and the paddles look like they have hardly any meat on them compared to my standard ford AP clutch (with considerably more mileage) so I'd be interested to know as well.

Also the flywheel that was with the clutch has been worn down a bit (you can see a ridge where the paddles end)

would I be better my other flywheel that was with my OE clutch or is this just how they end up with paddle clutch?

that's the reason i'm asking, i've got a ap clutch which has meant to have done less than 500 miles, but the contact pads look as if they havent got much 'meat' left in them. Not sure if that's how there meant to be or not!?

A paddle clutch will only generally last 7500-10000 miles on a cable clutch system...I went through two paddles in 12000 miles in my 2wd saff .

How far away from the face of the pad are the rivets? If it wears down to those it will trash your flywheel a treat..

Buying 2nd hand clutch parts is a very false econamy IMHO

I think 8mm rings a bell with regards to AP brand new thickness - i.e the total thicknes of the whole plate.

i've been told this but i gor about 20k out of mine, but that was dumping it alll the time. they are very thin even when new. every one said my old one was knackered when we rebuilt my enging but i re fitted it asnyway & got another 6k miles out of it before it started slipping. i think pete at ashfied motorsport can get them re plated. heres a pic of a new one. notice not much between the rivits & the plate surface
