yeah i know the crank wont but the head was supposed to be exactly like that. That is dennis,s head and that is what he apparently spent 8 hours doing to mine...

yes there is a reciept. What exactly can i take them to court for. ive got a bit on the reciept which says

labour to strip and rebuild engine gas flow head and make good where neccesary 2861 +vat

thats only mention of any head work other than valve lifters double springs and cams valve guides etc.

I have no proof that the engine will not produce 500hp. I have proof it wont be reliable if i run it and damage it and i have proof it will drive like shit but not that it wont make the power...

i was all so done over yrs ago by a good mate of mine

charged me 800 for porting my head , mine was only polished

when you have mates like this you dont need enimes

I'm assuming they don't have a proper dyno system there to setup the engine's they build before giving them back to the customer???

Funny that you say that, my old engine built by a reputable tuner had a supposed Ł800 polished and ported head which turned out to be more standard than anything else

There isn't many people you can trust these days

i agree with that statement completely jonny. There is no way TDI expected the engine to be pulled apart this early.

I still think the engine is worth atleast 4k though so i think i will put it on ebay when it gets back.

id try and get something done about it asking them why that havnt done teh job they have paid for etc, at least try and get something back as thats a lot of money

ive been done before aswell but not to that extent but its still not rite to rip people off no matter who you are

if they dont do anything about it would you not get more for the engine pieces?

doubt it mate im at a point where i just wanna get out of it now. with the least amount of work. If anyone has any sort of deal they wanna put forward with other cars etc (as i am a trader sort of) then i may be intrested.

Would be happy to get out of it asap.

Someone could still continue with the build with martin.

TDI have clearly disrespected, robbed and made a fool out of you. If someone did this to me, regardless of who they where I would burn there unit down. Mate, I would drag them through the small claims system, even if they have done the work requested, it is STILL a massivly inflated price, and it DOES NOT do what you asked them to make it do. Get 2 seperate engineers reports, martin already has the details for one report, and get an independant specialist engine builder such as harvey gibbs etc to do the second. ALso collect evidence of build costs for engines of the same spec as yours, you can prove that you have been misled and that they have basically used you as a cash cow, instead of workign for your best interests.

Get onto www.consumeractiongroup.com , there are a lot of very knowledgeable people on there regarding stuff like this, and the small claims process, although the 9k you have spent would fall outside the normal 5k limit, but there is lots of help avaliable.

In plain and simple terms, YOU HAVE NOT GOT WHAT YOU PAID FOR. THE ENGINE IS UNSUITABLE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT WAS SUPPLIED. The law is 100% on your side mate, you just need to put the hours in producing a good case . Personally I would persue it as fas as possible as you stand a very high chance of getting a good chunk, if not all of your cash back. PM me your phone number if you like and we will see what we can come up with ... Hate seeing people get screwed over by the so called proffesionals

TDI came on here saying what he had done was fine for up to 500 bhp? but when taken to Reyland, its esentially turned out to be... a standard bottom end, with close to standard comp ratio, and a standard head??? good for 400 or there abouts? for the 12k you paid was it??

Take the head back to them and dont leave till its done to your satisfaction. You've paid the cash now get the work done. Even if you still break it do it for your own satisfaction.

Its the comp ratio and the head work that is the problem. Bottom end is fine being standard with uprated pistons which it is (that is all i wanted).

I will try and look into the court thing. Just hate courts and have always known them to be a waste of time. theres no reason i should not get 7k in bits for the car so if i cut my losses then im only 5k down. I can earn that in a month... or two.

dont think i have not thought about just going 2wd but it still means i gotta finish the car with martin which is another 8k with all the bits then all the bits to go 2wd.

I may talk to martin and see if he can do something.

You never know.

But once you have paid for something god it hurts paying for the same thing again...

The bottom end willl make 500bhp even on that kompression, but top end will not on the std porting.
you could have specced that engine yourself for 3k m8, i have build my 600+engine for 9k and only thing standard there is the cranck and only thing i reused was the block.
So go for it, i would´nt accept it as u do, i would go on every forum to say how there company is, if i couldnt get any money then i would go for ruining there buisness

I feel for you mate but you can't sell the car just yet though because its evidence, speak to a lawyer about whats happen and see what they say, remember they know the law inside out and know your rights as a consumer.
You need time to think about your options of whether or not to keep it because 6months down the line if you have sold it you'll no doubt look back and wish you'd of kept it. Can you not just go for a 400-500bhp build because by most peoples standards thats still alot power?

I have just read this whole thread and the rebuild thread and have to say Im completely disgusted by the way you have been treated by these complete incompetent cretins at TDI.

I get fed up with rip off merchants like this getting away with it and i strongly feel you should take this further through the small claims court but your first point of call should be trading standards if you havent already informed them.

I also hope that this thread gets linked from as many other car sites as possible... especially Jap car sites so as to put these thieving conmen out of business.

what an absolute DISGRACE and i hope you get the car sorted one way or another.

TDI have been very naughty.. they have made a fool of you and i fell for you mate. I agree with RWD_cossie_wil.... Collect the evidence and start building a case. Instead of posting a bad thread and then paying more money to sort it etc etc, hit them were it hurts. I was looking at a civic type r for my next car and looked at the possibility of adding a super charger using TDI, but now i fucking wont go near there , they sound like fooking theieves. I hate tuners that fuck people over, just pure greed!!! cant wait till teh combustion engine become history and puts fuckers like this out of business!!!
