engine power on tdci is 153bhp and something like 170lb/ft i THINK the 220 is around 223bhp!!!!

i'm trying my best to stay away from diesels coz i cant stand the way they drive but im assuming the st tdci is more responsive than most diesels.....

when you say alot easy to run do you mean they are more reliable?

A mod on here had a tdci one that MSD had remapped to 200bhp.
Tiff i think it was,
id go for the diesel as well. a remapped one would i think be close to the petrol but still do 45mpg.

One thing to take into account is the new tax pricing, the st220 will be Ł415 next year, and Ł440 the year after, and the diesel will be a lot cheaper to run aswell, so the sensible option is that, but my next car will be a 220

No mate, its cars from 2001 onwards i think, mine is an 02 plate and mine is based on co2. i know what your saying about the deisels being more expensive, the 220's are dirt cheap for an 02 plate.

Here's a tax pricing guide for the next 2 years

ST220

ST TDCI

with mods you can get the thick end of 300 brake out of the 220 engine

but

the tdci version will do around 3 times the economy and you can get the remap to give it fairly decent performance
