Unhappy failed MOT

Failed On emmissions! Not bad concidering car has been sat for a year. Hasn't been driven but gave it a good run there and got 9% on idle.

Gonna stick some new fuel in and redex and give her a thrash on the way to retest.

Any tips to pass??

Shall I clean spark plugs or not bother??

On Go-tech management btw.

cheers

I've seen my local garage get cars through by removing the oil filler cap.

My old 1.9 series 2 was always a bit "questionable" on co emmissions on tickover.

My trick was to pull one of the little vacuum pipes of the top of the inlet manifold, that way it draws air in a weakens the mixture enough to get it through the test. It'll make the tickover lumpy but it still run?

DONT forget to push the pipe on when youve had the test!

I think at 9% I'd look at actually fixing it.

Well yeah really.
Needs new oil, plugs, air and fuel filters, then a tweak on mixture screw may be needed to finish it off, well on a normal non cat, don't know with your management.
Presume it's passed on current set up before?

not had MOT since management changed but was told it would pass and has adjustment in the glovebox on the ecu for mixture. other than that has to be linked up to laptop for adjustments.
Will change spark plugs and see, oil is new so shouldnt be that and got foam filter on which isn't that dirty.
