I want to kno what ecu they were using on those paaramotors? They spoke about the problem of altitude compensation (air thining) and it must have been pretty tough to cope with thos temps and vibration.
Did you also see the rotrex supercharger and llittle intercooler. That guy looked like a pretty handy fabricator/engineer considering he was all self taught.

i thought that engine builder was a right prat - especially for taking an engine for test in a climatic wind tunnel at < -30 degrees C without any anti-freeze

You're confusing his 'survival' programme with the 'fly over Everest' challenge..
The survival stuff is hammed up for the camera, but this was the business, flying a ridiculous parachute effort so high you could see space! You need proper bollocks to do what he did.

Even though it was a watchable program i thought the whole thing from start to finish was poorly managed and at times made to seem more dangerous than it was or needed to be.
They had a weather expert but where caught off guard by the clear morning which they could of flown if they had bothered to pull there fingers out there arses.
It seemed to me they didn't really know what they were doing.

can a helicopter pick you up in the air, bit fookin tricky wouldn't it??
The survival stuff does say at the start that they have a full team with them, so he is never in a huge amount of danger, the tv producers wouldn't allow it - kinda ruin the series.
Still has balls for some of the stuff done

One of my best mates is a freelance cameraman and runs all the mini cams for the Bear Gryll stuff, he was even in the Everest thing just before they took off, they shouted out for DAN, little fucking weasel!! He gets to go all around the world and set up glorified fucking web cams.
It's all real what this bloke does, of course it's dramatised for TV and they have to go back and film certain long shots etc. but they're still all nails SAS and SBS guys who have been on active duty.
He did all the Chris Ryan Vs Delta Force [or whatever shit it was] as well, which by all accounts was far more staged than any of Bear's stuff.
