Hmm, total hrs quoted as 65 hours, total bill comes to Ł850...
By my maths thats Ł13 Per hour... Not bad really considering the amount of jobs there are to do, looking at that list there is a hell of a lot of fiddly work to do there .. I have highlighted in red where I think the times are excessive, and blue where it sounds far too short to do a proper job..
Hard one to call really, final price sounds reasonable IMHO but the times are way out

Times stated sound a bit random in places, but the overall price sounds fair considering how much work has been done.
If there's still issues with the car I'm quite sure Simon would see you all right, he knows his stuff and is no rip off merchant.
Simon did a cracking job of doing a Zetec conversion on my Escort the other week... was at a fair price and everything was done well (and in a normal timescale with a receipt!).

Having a problem or complaint is not a problem, it's how the business deals with it that makes the difference, give the guys a chance to sort it out and see how you get on, you would be surprised how far you will get if you are reasonable and don't go in all guns blazing
If they refuse to help or sort it, then is the time to name and shame, not before they have had chance to sort it out. I can understand you being very pissed off, but mistakes happen from time to time.

I would like to put my side across.
My name is Simon Smail and I operate Sitech Racing.
In my defence I feel I should point out the following.
I have said bring it back and will re-work any issues.. several times.
I have responed in a professional maner to evey email Stuart has sent me. I even welcome him in my home when he passes the front door to drop off spares in the evening or for a cup of tea if its late.
I replied to his last email on the 18th and heard nothing untill now.
The car is not taxed or MOT so I cannot take it for a drive to sort out fueling. I have said I will.
The time issues -
Fit AFR boss, the exhaust had to be removed and drilled then welded.
The door cards were carbon fibre - they had to be trimed and doors had to be drilled (they were not a good fit).
The exhaust was a side exit style exhaust which had to be modded to clear the cross member, also there were no mounting points so they had to be made.
Turbo heat shield had to be modded for Lambda also there was no mounting brackets so they had to be made.
So without going into the full detail most of the jobs on Stus car involved more than just bolting on.
The big issue on the car was the ABS brakes because the system was left without fluid in for 3 years the pump and block had siezed up whick is why the system had to be blead 3 times 2 pumps and a block untill we got it to work properly. This put the project back many weeks.

Sorry i did not say they were carbon, and only one was to be fitted as i had fitted the other 4 my self, and after 15 mins surely you should have noticed it didnt fit correctly, not 2+ hours, exhaust surely if that much trouble should have said no not fitting,my biggest grip was cage fit ments which when questioned simon replied after a week of recieving my email, that i had not speced mount type, now any safty gear, cage haress etc, should be fitted correctly as not there for show, car was ment to come back in a condition that it could be mot,d once i had painted front wings and fitted front bumper, well it,s no were near that, simon was given an open invetation to do what it needed as cost wasnt my first issue to a degree, think there was a big lack of comunication, which i here from other ppl,he has sortedout to a degree

Harsh, mate.
Simon's a nice guy, and I'm surprised to read about someone having issues with him. I hope it gets sorted, which I'm sure it will.
Also, I'm sooooooooooo fucking happy about not being a tuner in the Ford game. You get ripped to bits on here.

Well, now that the two sides of the story have been put across, the solution seems simple to me.... Get the car MOT'd and taxed, then sort any outstanding work, then kiss and make up...
Pointless making enemies, I still think for the work in the list the ŁŁŁ was pretty good, so I am sure you two can come to an amicable arrangement and finsih a nice car on a good note?

I think Si has perfecty explained his position and it seems very reasonable, lots of fiddly jobs and an offer to sort any outstanding niggles. I wish more garages were like him!!!!
Fuck knows who else charges Ł13 per hour...seems ok to me

Excellent response from simon in my opinion. Ive just read the thread from start to finish and started off feeling as if you had been extremely ripped off.
then discovered the price and felt it was fair for the amount of fiddly jobs to be done.
Simon has then offered to put right the things you are unhappy with when the car is road LEGAL.
I dont think you can say fairer than that. I wish i got a response like that to my current predicament lol
Just my two cents...
ps. Oh and i think if you are a good tuner then the rest of youre (pleased) customers will stick up for you. Or anyone that understands the situation will atleast.
Like here for instance most people started off against the tuner. maybe now after his response that will change

Its just i have had ap discs where they have directional vanes and would swear the grooves were the wrong way on them so decided if ap did not care which way they went either did I as the vane direction was much more important.

cant find pics are on a disc
no stu but i got a new gearbox fitted and when i went to collect old one i was told the scrap man must of lifted it by accident, and there was nowt wrong with it except a slight crunch in 4th
