Iv started a new job recently as a trainee mechanic.

Dont no how many of you have done it or an apprentiship

But i feel as they as they talk to me like im stupid

Just wondering if any of you have had it or they just dont like me

Part and parcel of being an apprentice mate ! Get used to it ! You'll do the same one day when you've got someone like that by your side !

Pretty much how it goes in any apprentice trade. Just don't be a smart arse, keep your head down and prove to them you're not a wanker and can do the job and you'll be fine!

I was lucky...first garage at the age of 12 working Saturdays, ment I was too young to get bulled as such plus by the time I was ready to leave school and start a official apprentiship I was already settled into the job. Most apprentises are as thick as pig shit and spend most of the time day dreaming but they seem to pull out of it by early 20's...reminds me alot of the Kevin and perry sketch where Kevin gets laid and is a changed boy

Stick at it...it gets easier but be carefull about trying to impress them by thinking for your self in a spannering situation cos if it goes wrong then you'll take another ten steps back in trying to gain respect with your peers Offer to put their tools away or make em a cuppa insted...it'll go much furthur for you that way lol

yeah stick at it mate.
i started my mechanics apprenticeshipe at 16 and was always "bullied" . it can be harsh but it will be worth it in the end.

hope you do well because there are not many mechanics around now, especially english ones.

i keep advertising for mechanics but only get polish people applying now

its even hard to get a reliable apprentice!!

Hey,
sometimes it might sound a bit stupid to tell you things you think you know, but listen to them, show them the respect they deserve. If you knew what they told you thats OK, at least thats confirmation you are doing it right, and perhaps sometimes they will teach you something you didnt know or though you did, and thats alright too. remember not everyone is created equal they may have experienced less than perfect apprentices before, earn their respect by learning and applying that knowledge. we all start somewhere and all think we know more than we do. after 10 years Im still learning.
Cheers,
Justin P
