No all that happens is it comes off the category register but still comes up with autoline approved (if you get it checked over by autoline) i think

Do you mean if the car is damaged? I thought HPI was when money was outstanding on the car so to get it off the list you had to pay the money but my bad if I'm wrong!

HPI tell you if the vehicle has been in an accident damage with cat if reported, stolen or written off, any change to vehicle ie colour, plate. Outstanding finance, no of keepers. There is a bronze, silver, and gold hpi check but a gold one should tell you of the history of the vehicle.
Hope this helps

When I enquired about the write off my missus bought ( ) I found out that you can have the car checked over (includes checking the chassis on a jig and such) and if it passes they remove it from the category listing but it still has a mark on the record to say it WAS a write off that is now fit for use again.
The cost was around £150
In the end I couldn't be arsed so we just traded the car in for another one lol

years ago when all the hpi and register thing started a car could be inspected by autoline in nottingham i think they were and could be physically removed from the hit list, but now an inspected car rather than being "condition alert" will be classed as "condition inspected", cat c and d ratings remain the same.
