Getting away with it??

Getting away with it??
You know how some people just have the knack of getting away with it?
Well.....having booked my RST in for its MOT tomorrow morning, this afternoon I decided it would be a good idea to go fill the car up with fuel and check the tyre pressures at my local garage, to save bothering in the morning.
I have to admit I did think twice about doing so and I knew I ran the risk of getting stopped.
Acht its only a few miles to the petrol station, it will be cool, Right?!
So off I went, It was the first i'd driven the car on the road with Zetec Turbo engine installed and I have to say it feels great!
I arrive at the fuel station fill it up & sort the tyre preassures and off home I head.
So there I am heading home a total or maybe 10miles traveled and guess what I see?
You guessed it traffic cops in a fully marked up BM!
Im less that one minuite from home and just knew that they were going to follow.
So I take a bit of a detour and take the less obvious road(which happens to pass my brothers house) hoping they arent quick enough off the mark and assume i've taken the other (main) road WRONG!!!
They did follow and did stop me. CAPTURED!
So with their blue lights on I pull over, it happened to be right outside my brothers. After having checking my Tax, I'm then asked to take a seat in the back of their car, fortunatly I had my Driving Licence and Insurance docs in the car, so i grabbed them and produced them.
Knowing that I'd been pulled about the tax I decide that the best policy is to be honest with them. I explain the situation and acknowledge that I know im in the wrong
Looking at my driving licence the question is then asked "what are you doing here then?"
out blurbs "my brother lives here"
"You werent going to see your brother though were you" I think I was asked?..............told is maybe more accurate!
"um NO!" I replied
Some how I then manage (and I cant remember exactly how) to admit to trying to evade them by taking a non direct route home....oppps
To my surprise I am then thanked for my honesty and done with driving without displaying a current tax disk £60 fixed penalty.
Driving without a current MOT certificate £60 fixed penalty.
Whilst in the car I said to the copper, "to be honest I knew it was a chance I was taking, I saw you sitting there and guessed that with the technoligy you have I was going to get stopped"
The driver politely replied "I was the technoligy"
I guess an old RS Turbo must just have set off his radar, acht well!
Its a risk I knew I was taking, just shows you that in my case
"I wont just get away with it" lesson learned.
Thinking about it now, in a way im fortunate I could have had my car taken away, I guess being so close to home helped.

Unlucky, Andy. If i get stopped I'm always civil and honest to them. I think it gets you further.
I've been down the being an arsehole to them route and it didn't work out very well.

Col I assumed they did as it had a cylinder type thing on the roof, from his response I gathered that it was intuition that led him to follow me not number recognition.
Euan I was cautioned and so long as the fines are payed in time no further action will be taken!!

aint to bad mate, to be honest, had you just stayed on course they may not have had you.
Best way to be with a copper is eat humble pie and don't fek em about, be friendly and 9 times out of 10, they will either give you a ticking off, or give you the leanest of penalties which is what they did.
I don't like police in general, the older ones are the best, the young ones are cocks, but at the end of the day, if they catch you with your nickers down, you have to play nice in order to avoid an easy rogering!!

As much as i have never wanted to cival is definately the best policy. one night i got pulled up 5 times in my magenta saff as i was only 19. the last time i jumped out the car and approached him with my arms in the air.
Not a good move. was put over the bonnet cuffed and taken to ploice station to (calm Down).
Lesson learned.
Could not agree more to the young ones being cocks statement.

Unlucky mate......
.....but as you say some people get away with - like my mate in his 21T this weekend on the M69 just outside Coventry - decided to try and race an unmarked police 07 plate black Focus ST with a female copper driving - she was doing 115 warp speeds & he was doing 121 warp speeds......all he got was....
......a caution & told to go & behave himself! LOL!

Just before christmas I got pulled for doing 44 in a 30. Being 18 I thought I was going to get fucked. But all i got was a breathalyzer test and told to take it easy. I was totaly honest with them saying i didnt realise that i was going that speed and that i was sorry for doing so..

Yea i usually feel the long arm of the law, had 1 instance on my home late at night, had a car come up behind and thought it was a mate in his mondeo, put me foot down n went 80mph into a sharp bend drifting the ass end of the van round, thought it strange he stuck with me cause no one else i knew dared to take the bend as fast, soon realised wat it was when the blues came on. mondeo st220 traffic car, when i pulled over he was really polite and said it was a good show!!! he said unfortunately cause he had radioed it in, he had to do something but instead of persuing the dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention route, (and cause i let him have a fag when he asked lol) he said he'd be leaniant and i only got 3pts for doing 36 in the 30 zone 4 miles back.
Another one was when i was doing 60 in a 30 and when pulled told him i was going to help a mate who locked his keys in his boot and it was pissing down with rain, got a slap on the wrist and let go.
Politeness goes a long way

I remembered why I love RS's today, the poping & banging from the exhaust, the induction note, the sounds as you lift off, all good.
On the flipside there's the imperfections that come as part and parcel with a 18year old car. It needs a fair bit of work needing done just to bring the car back upto scratch, some of which will be addressed before Crail others that can wait.
