2wd Cossie Bother
Techy people I need to pick your brains for a bit of help here asap please.
Is it possible to check the sensors on a 2wd Cossie engine with a mulitimeter? If so could you tell me how to do so, ie, which pins on the ecu, what readings I should see etc etc.
Phase sensor is new, as is dizzy cap, rotor arm, plugs and leads. Timing has been checked, all marks lined up ok.
When the engine is at TDC on number 1 cylinder where should the crank pulley be positioned? It should be at TDC when timed up as normal yes?
The problem Im having is the car is driving ok off boost but seems "lazy" to rev and then once you throttle hard it makes full boost as usual (34psi) but doesnt pull at all. The exhaust note changes from normal to an almighty loud drone too. I am baffled by this hence wanting to check all sensors if possible.
If anyone else has suggestions or ideas then Ill gladly take them on board.
Fuckin cossies, why did I buy another one.
Its not my car Im having bother with btw.
Cheers, Ian.

was it running wel before and suddenly come on, or has it just got worse over a period of time? might be worth checking the cams as if the cam caps have pulled their threads or come loose, they wont't be lifting the valves properly.
Are there any misfires at all? has anything like the cambelt been changed recently, the car worked on at all?

I will check the manual tommorow, but as I remember it should be at the front edge of the no1 lug (next to the V groove) when all the other timing marks line up.

it sounds to me that the car is running miles retarded for some reason, did you check the key in the front pulley to make sure its not slipping round at all, as for timing one of the four lugs should be just left of the marker point of the front cover plate or in line with the cps sensor.

Sounds like the exhaust cam is retarded.
Recheck the marks as above, ie CRANK, on LUG nearest V groove, cam pointers towards each other, exhaust at 3 o'clock, inlet at 9 o'clock,, and in line with surface of head/cover not forgetting the PHASE alignment.

Right been down the garage having a bit mess about with the car........
Tested every sensor in the engine bay and retested at the ecu plug and all was well, So turned back to the timing and noticed when the bottom pully was lined up the cams seemed to be half a tooth out so we bit the bullet and stripped the bottom pully and timing belt off.....
And guess what we found......
The woodruff key on the aux pully had decided that it did not want to stop in one piece anymore and caused the pully to move by its self.......

That was after a full afternoon tidying your pigsty garage up.
Bloody cossies, bet your happy now we know what it is tho.
As we were winding the pulley off there was no sign at all of a woodruff key in the groove, just a few bits of dust once the pulley was off. Lawnsy has a pic as we were taking the pulley off.
