Ive got 1mb broadband from BT, never had a problem with it.
Ive got the unlimited download one for about 28 quid a month, it sits there hammering the downloads/uploads 24/7 on soulseek with mp3s and ive never had a single moan from them

If its none cable then it will be a bt line, so its usally cost effective to go with bt for both, saves money.

Contention rate is a big issue with home BB tho.

BT def not the cheapest but at least u know it will always work

If u want cheaper calls u can still sign up free to talk talk..free calls to other tt..depends if u have any mates on it as well!

As Dingy said Dave, unless you have cable you are going to have a BT line anyway.

Dave

Bt landline with no options paying by direct debit is 9 quid a month.

You then have the best line with which to add Broad band etc

Then u choose your service provider- this is where your evening/weekend free callss etc comes from- BT IS CRAP full stop they are complete rip offs when you compare them to everyone else- I am trying to find a website which compares them all but I cant find it just yet.

I am slightly biased as I work for CPW but Talk Talk is the one to go for.

Its a carrier pre select service ( means no boxes or numbers to dial u just use you phone as normal) there are loads of packages from no charge each month- to ones which will charge you but offer more free calls. Either way they're all cheaper than BT. For example the SAME but cheaper ( I know doesn't make it the same) package as BT is free where as BT charge you 2 quid.

www.talktalk.co.uk will sort you out. YOu can do it all online aswell.
No contract etc- takes 20 days to switch over.

If I find that website I'll post it up mate.

Bare in mind not all cheapy phone companies are carrier pre select most of them are boxes or dial up numbers- Like sky for example which is a pre fix to get the calls cheaper.

Hope this helps you pikey mo fo.

Dave looking at ya last question

NO- Bt and NTL are 2 seperate line providers- NTL being cable-
If NTL was a service provider then you could.

I should hope my advice is good- its my job lol

working for BT id say BT

but taking that aside ud be amazed at the amount of ppl we convert back to BT from NTL

also with BT if u have sky tv u can sometimes get a discount on that as well

n if u dont like the pricing policy etc, as has been said swap it over, there are loads vying for ya money but check em thoroughly as some will mug u off on silly things

If you go for BT to provide your "phone-line", then check here to compare various ADSL (broadband) providers for speed, reliability and customer service, based on user-opinions:

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/compare.asp

It gives you a series of graphs similar to the one linked below (which is in no way biased towards the company I work for ):

I am not 100% sure... but if you ring talk talk they will tell you.. CPW aint in the game of lieing... I know BT sometimes bend things a little.

Ultimatly.. its a phone call to find out and I know its a question that comes up all the time.

ADSL is only provided over the BT phone-network (with the exception of Kingston Telecomms in Hull), so technically BT may be correct in what they're saying......it depends on how the talk-talk network works (do they have their own telephony cabling network, or does it run over BT's own network and talk-talk rent the bandwidth?).

Dan as I said its carrier pre select so in theory it should work as it uses BT lines but just thought CPWS/Talk Talk- simplist thing in this case is to just ring em

I'm on Tiscali for my 3 times BB, costs me £15.99 a month, and I've fucked BT off with my phonebill and gone with Homecall, they charge 5p a call at weekends and if you phone someone else with Homecall its free...

Hi mate,

Yeah theres 2 seperate lines, the BT one was already here when we moved in. The NTL line i had installed just after as they had a few months earlier put the line under the pavement.

At the time (dont know if they still do??) with BT you had to have some sort of filters on the phone sockets to divide up the signal i.e Internet and Voice.

Was going to have NTL TV and BB but one of my mates has the NTL TV box and its complete shite, decided to play it safe.

Sky = Tele.
BT = Phoneline
NTL = Broadband

With the Broadband, i got a nice little box with lots of little flashing green lights on it, keeps Anna amused for hours!
