We have 2 dogs Chop ( dalmatian and a black lab ) and they both love their cages, bought them cages each as soon as we got the dogs as was somewhere to put them in when ever we went out for any lenght of time. We always give them a treat for going in the cage and it soon got to the stage that we only have to say "cages boys" and they go running like mad up the stairs and sit waiting in their cages for a treat !!!!

We never leave them on their own for too long and will put them in the cages if we go out for a while, they each have their own blankets and are curled up fast asleep in no time and never get any complaints from them. If we are home all day the only time they go back in them is at night time as they sleep in the cages through the night, i also think it gives them there own private space that they can feel is their own so to speak !

The wee pup looks gorgeous mate, we have been looking for another dog for a while now, had an alaskan malimute but our lab didnt get on too good with him as was too rowdy all the time !!!! Im wanting another lab and a chocolate one would be perfect i reckon. You said there are still some left are there ?? How much mate ??

Weve never used a cage for any of our dogs, never had the need.
My dad used to rub tiger balm on anything the dog fancied years ago (20 years plus a like) and dogs hate the taste of that stuff. You can get a spray to spray on what the dogs chew from Pets at Home etc, we did this when we had out last pup, didnt have an issue.
As a pup her room was the kitchen, toilet duties were taught by a rubbing of the nose and sent outside, learned her lesson very quick (especially when it was launching it down)
Then she got her own supasize cushion as a bed and the computer room as a bedroom, she certainly knew how to kick you out when she wanted a nap

My auntie had 1 years ago when she had a pub in Bristol, she is 5ft 1, the dog used to dwarf her, but the punters were more scared of her as the dog was a big soft arse who would surrender at first tickle

do it, come up for a weekend it'd be cool to catch up

We'd both love one mate but there's nobody in the house from 7am to almost 6pm most days. Just not fair

Our place is a bit small for a lab too...

One day though

We'll have to meet up at some point though You still owe me for drinking all my fecking beer at nat day :P

We used a crate for our GSD Kira when we got her as a pup, it was a great help in helping to house-train her. We used to put a bed in one half of it and newspaper in the other half

We bought a very large crate 48" x 30" online at a very reasonable price from a place in Stoke-on-Trent.

We still have the crate up... 5 years later, as Kira still uses it to store all her toys in. The door is never shut on it and she does use it still for occasionally sleeping in. Kira regards the crate as her own special space.

Donno if you saw this, but this is Angus in his cage. It may look HUGE to him, but he's already grown since then (8wks old).

And in his bed in the living room. Trying to keep him on there is another story!

This was him after his first night - Jill stayed with him for most of the night, sitting on the kitchen floor reading her book!!

And this is him just on Sat!!!

We ended up getting a Staffie Bitch Amy, here she is.......

She's a great dog and is so loving and loyal, we wouldn't be without her now She's always had a crate too, ever since she came home, it's her bed and den where she takes her treats to eat in private

Cheers! Aye, it's a bitty different than that last time you were there! Just 2 rooms to start and finish the house now.............!!!!

Aye the wee fella is getting a lot bigger now. We were at the puppy classes yesterday and spoke to a lady there with a black lab. She was only 9mths old, but was nearly fully grown! They must shoot up very quickily, well compared to our Westie! lol

I've read about that clicker training. Something that I've never tried.
However, I've read and seen the cola tin, with some stones inside then taped up. Shaking the tin at them with a flick of the wrist, followed by a 'NO!' will stop them from doing things they shouldn't. At the puppy classes, they do that with the dogs/puppies that bark. Works very well.
