Default What are these guys all about then??

I aren't completely green when it comes to buying dodgy gear of pikeys etc. But whats the deal with these guys who keep coming to our Unit and trying to sell us stuff?

They are foreign (Generally have German number plates on the car), they are in decent cars (Yesterdays was a well flashy Merc Estate). They are smartly dressed and well spoken. They claim to be from Holland and have been to an exhibition and can't take the goods back through customs for whatever reason. They normally only have one or two items in the car.

Is this gear stolen? Or is it just shite?

I got suckered a few years ago by a black guy at South Mimms services, who followed me to the cashpoint to draw out £50 to buy a watch that he originally wanted about £300 for.

The guy who came yesterday was selling Saucepan sets and Knife sets etc. He had a 24 Piece knife set that he would sell me for £40 (alledgedly sells for over £500). It looked as though it was worth £40 of anyones money to be honest and what could go wrong with a knife?

Also, we had a guy come round a few weeks ago trying to sell us a Top notch leather 3-Piece for £400. Apparently that was from a cancelled order that was worth £3000 and he only had one. I spoke to various people from all over Norwich who had seen that same guy with the same story.

I know the stories are bullshit, but where does the gear come from?

its defo dodge mate. they are either trying to palm off some crappy goods to you or keep coming into your unit so see what they can nick.

Either way - be very careful mate.

Theres a guy round here who does a similar thing.

Obviously a drug adict but he sometimes has some good stuff for sale - even if it does still have the security tag from the shop he nicked it from still on!!!

My mate at work bought a Nike jacket off of him! He stopped us and said do we wanna buy it - my mate pulls out a pocket full of change (about 3 quid) and goes I'll give you that for it!

Job done!

Buying stolen goods just perpetuates the whole thing . I'm not saying they are, but Raby's attitude is what makes people break into places and steal others lively-hood .

Mate, I'd be the one in shite if I knowingly bought stolen goods, it's just as bad crime and stealing the goods on the first place

This is what the score is at the end of the day...

Just wanted people to see the REAL side of it

Remember a guy stopped me an a mate, he was in a big beemer, with a young chick, both smartly dressed, anyway, the guy got out and started telling us they were on their way home from a fashion exhibition and had 5 watches to sell, offered us them for £100!, all good makes, an looked real enough..

Needless to say we didn't have money, and weren't keen on buying them, but still, if you can get away with it....

Coldo, Nice sig mate

Re. the whole buying stolen goods lark.

Hmm, ya takes your money and takes your chances.

In an ideal world no one would do it but this ain´t an idea world.

I´ve bought stolen goods before which ain´t big or clever but at least when I had the whole stereo (head unit, subs, amps etc) ripped out my car I took the attitude that what goes around comes around.
If some one could promise me that no one would ever buy anything dodgy ever again I´d agree to that too but as it is if I don´t buy it, the next bloke will and why should he get the bargain!

Sad and wrong attitude but the way of the world unfortunately!

I see a distinct difference between a Pikey selling shit out of the back of a transit and these guys.

They normally have Glossy literature to support what they are selling. I know that this could all be printed by them, but I don't understand if the gear is stolen or cheap Taiwanese shite or what?

I wouldn't consider buying anything electrical or anything that has any potential to be badly made, but with something like Knives/Saucepans and that kind of stuff, that genuinely feel and look well made and are all brand new in proper wrappers with supporting literature etc. Thats what I don't understand.

LOL.... I know a couple of these peeps

They have 2 lots of goods... i set of samples, perfectly boxed, fantastic genuine stuff.. very tempting indeed. Watches are a classic, as are knife sets and pans etc etc...

In teh back of teh vehicle they have what appesr to be identical stuff, but their NOT.. they are cheap taiwanese copies often made of PLASTIC.. especially teh watches

Needless to say, you wont be handed the sample, they will give you the old;
"I may as well keep this opened one as a demo now pal, heres a nice unopened one for ya"

This fella i know drives a MERCEDES HIRE CAR...

its a scam, what it ussally is they are sales reps, , they are employed by a comapny and all they do each day is drive and stop peeps or go to businesses trying to sell stuff, and their sales pitch is always along the same lines, blah blah we ordered one but got 2,
i am catching a flight and cant take with me,
the order was cancelled and i cant return,
paid for not collected etc etc

its all just a sale pitch and they get commission on what they sell, and their goods are always substandard, the knifes are usually bad quality stainless which will rust, and not hold a blade, just walk away, I once stopped a young girl in a haridressesrs part with 300notes for a shite camcorder worth £90 max, the adverts are always phoney and put in the papers by the company that employs them

hope this helps

same pitch big merc etc etc, he pulled a few out showed me a mag sayin rrp 300 etc etc was obvious to me

watches looked ok so i offered him 20 quid for one and he took it, still wear it now never misses a beat lol

for 20 quid i dont care lol

but i can see how some peeps easily part with 80 quid for em or somin, think he at first tried to sell to me for 90 or somin lol

around about the same time there were oskar emil watches apearig all over ebay saying designer 300 rrp etc etc

Used to work the markets and some of the stuff people in vans were trying to sell was unreal. There was one market we went too and I think we was the only stall that wasnt selling something to front dodgy dealing.
Brand new widescreen T.V's still in the boxes were well under a hundred quid although booze, cigarettes and guns were also sold all the time ..... bunch of dodgy coonts
