Default "99 spec" 200 Blocks

Does anyone know the kind of power/torque/spec the newer batch of blocks can take before it is an issue?

Euan was runnig over 500 bhp through his then around 550 before it cracked, dont know if it was only due to the faulty block or to do with the head lifting.

so possibly with long studding they *might* be ok (if it was due to head lifting?)

so would be ok on a T4 speced engine then? say round the 500 brake mark?

Im of the opinion that given that the casting shape is the same (ie they arent a different design) then the material used must be of a lower standard in order for it to fail, so Id expect long term reliability at a lower power level to be compromised as well, not just out and out power handling capacity, so consqeuntly I wouldnt use one myself, but Ive no real world data specifically about them failing prematurely to base that on.

I would measure the wall thickness on all 4 bores first.

Mine cracked in the tinnest bore, which was over half a mm thinner than the next thinest.

I think a normal 500 bhp engine will be fine but when thigs are pushed further it might become a problem.
