surely it must be faster than the figures suggest
as to get from 200 - 222 must take at least another 5 seconds??
so that makes him on the gas for 30 seconds at least.... is there enough room up there

Also 2secs quicker than mine & from 180+mph is in a different league because of aero-dynamics a dramatically quick car. Thats one car mine will never ever beat or even get close to thats for sure.
Knew about it on the day, great stuff & puts the rest of us Topspeed boys in the shade but wont stop me from trying for 215+ later this year even if that sounds a bit dowdy after hearing about 222. MIND BLOWING STUFF.

Look at how fast it gets to mega speed, bloody fast. He boots it, it gets there, job done, no agonising labouring at it slowly accelerates at high speed.
I dont know if there some geeky scientific way of working it out, but to me it not labouring at all like that, unlike most less powerful cars trying to do big speed, makes it seems like the engine is under less stres and less likely to blow up doing that.
Less time for the heat to build up, less time at full load, etc etc.
Ie a more modified 2litre doing 200mph in 1 mile is less likely to blow up than one doing it in 1.5miles.
Fuck knows, but that Evo makes me want a really really powerful car

the 4x4 cars seem to be able to get there a good bit quicker.
Andy Forrest scoobie for example seems the same...sure it did 210 in 1.2 miles ?

Vids like this adds to my confusion on why Rod even bothers with this top speed bullshit as a more aerodynamic car will make his look silly which leaves it to be the fastest cosworth but I genuinely think only about 3 people care that it has that title. Spending all that money to get a record that no-one gives a fuck about :S
Why not make the best modification to the Cosworth for top speed action and break it and make a custom top speed car and go to the salt flats if top speed gives you kicks? lol

Couldnt give a fuck about timing it or being king internet with it tho, i just want it to scare the shit out of me, as thats why i like cars.

You'd soon get fucked off with having a car that was purely built for that sort of purpose. For me ultimate top speed is last on the priority list. I'd rather have a car that could be fast up to say 170 on a duel carriageway but also keep up with anything down back roads . You could argue Rod's car would beat most cars on a duel carriageway but most usual races would never get to that speed. Imagine coming off a roundabout on to a duel carriageway in the wet. Would you rather have Lee's 3dr or Rod's car?
I'd rather have a 550 bhp scooby that could kill it down b roads, keep up with almost anything on a duel carriage way and do 170 if I wanted it to over a 650bhp rwd that is TOTAL shit down a b road, either never seeing boost or just wheel spinning or being uselss on duel carriageway until well over 100mph by which time you've run out of road...

Jap crap, I agree with you on the road stuff, guy I was out for a meal with last night had 174mph out of his porsche on the M4 (on road angel) with less than 300bhp, thats already quicker than I would want to go for more than a few seconds on UK roads, due to the legal implications of getting caught.
So id sooner have a car that gets to 140mph as fast as possible (thats as quick as I ever tend to feel the need to go) than care too much what it does way beyond that.

Chip. That porsche is probably quite good (well ok-ish) in other situations too though i.e. it wouldn't get caught off boost coming out of a tight bend or wheel spin and crash

Yes that porsche is great at everything else, thats my point, even being low powered and not built with top speed as a real consideration particuarly, its STILL faster than I want to go, so I dont really take much notice of top speed on a road car, as anything moderately quick is already faster than I want it to be for top end.
