how much power does a pc use ?
just the tower bit turned on, no monitor and the speakers etc switched off too
dont they only use like really small volts etc ?
whats it comparable to being turned on, energy saving light bulb ? iron ? kettle etc ?
just curious

check out the wattage on the psu.. that should give some sort of idea.
generally, the better performance/hotter it runs, the more power it uses. no real rule of thumb though imo.

Off the top of my head you are looking about 125watts for an average PC and a monitor is around 70watts (20 odd on standby).
I've got a little electricity meter I use that plugs in between the socket and the appliance. If I remember I'll double check tonight.
A kettle will pull about 4kW when on!!!
Typical energy saving LB is 10watts
