FAO people on water meters
How much is your water bill? I am still not on a meter so they estimate my bill, its just come through at £178, bearing in mind I live alone, dont have a hose pipe, dont wash the car, dont have a dishwasher etc...
So I enquired about going on a meter, last time I enquired she asked me a load of questions based on my usage and told me I would save a pound a year
This time I blatently lied about my usage and told her I work away so my baths and showers are all done whilst away, so I virtually use no water, she told me I would only save a tenner a year. Are they trying it on because they know if I go on a meter they will be out of pocket? or are they being honest and I am not likely to save any money? bearing in mind they estimate the bill on an average house hold which for my house would be what? 2 adults and a child?
Ta.

£178 for how long? Ours are roughly £40 for summer/autumn (we don't live here over 4months of summer) and then about £80 for the winter/spring. There are 3 of us, (all girls so always in the shower etc, lol)... So £178 sounds bloody ridiculous to me!

i just got my bill for next year in and its 267 quid.
thats not a meter, and bassed on a 2 bed flat. (in london)
i got my electricity bill through the other day and they had estimated that based on a 2 bed flat.
they estimated i would use double what i did. gave them the actualy readings and the bill halved.
there is only me and my girlfriend living here so i'd probably be better of on a meter too as they will be estimating it as if there was a small family rather than a couple at a guess.

I went on a meter in October - after 2 weeks i got a cheque for £150 and in 12 month i can decide if i want to keep it or go back on the rates - they should send you an application pack free with all the cost comparison charts etc...pity u not in the great county of Yorkshire!

they are bullshitting you. i've just had our water bill from october 2006 (not a typo, 10/06) to now, and it was just less than £90 (2 people living in a 3 bed semi)
