Obviously you want the FULL value of the car back AND extra compensation for all the messing around!

Am I missing something? I've had a few so probably but:

"The HPI Guarantee does not cover the vehicle's descriptive information (including import status), mileage, value, V5 registration document checks, or if the loss has arisen as a result of a fraudulent transaction."

the transaction wasn't fraurulent, it was the hpi report that said it was ok to buy the car inthe first place, otherwise you could be buying a motor with some dodgy fivers or a bent gregory and when the guy comes back knocking on your door because the bank won't take bent notes/rubber gregory you then claim it back from hpi

this guy has given a 3rd party the details of something he wished to purchase after they have advertised that they can vouch for the legality and title of the goods offered

the buyer has then parted with his hard earned and the goods recivied

the goods then turn out to be somewhat shady historicaly and so the people who assured the legality of the transaction before it was completed shoudl now be honouring their terms and replacing the monies that the buyer is now out of pocket by

of course, the buyer could have bought the original uncloned car, but seeing as the pikiey's bitch has now admited to flogging him a sinister motor, that's pretty much the end of the case as far as the law is concnered and a refund plus costs etc should be forthcoming from said hpi company

HPI are useless.

I bought an L200 Warrior last year, did the usual checks bla bla and it came back clear

Come selling time, a prospective buyer did an HPI and it came back as being a cat-C write off

Turns out it was another L200 a private plate that had been written off before the plate was assigned to my vehicle so HPI just put it down as being my vehicle that was wrote off

They refused to take any responsibility for it neither and shrugged me off as best they could - bunch of cunts

After a lot of digging and using a different reference agency who were VERY helpfull the story was untangled and I had a written letter with dates and places and details of what had happened thus my vehicle never being written off

Still a pisser and I could of lost a sale and being 6k out of pocket there too

it was advertised at 88k but they only got the car in january it had :

2003 it was at 70,253

2008 it was at 84,000

the mileages that they aquire can quite a lot of time be inaccurate dubious etc, ive had it before on my old bmw and took ages to sort as it shows mileage discrepency on the hpi check.

however a lot of the times its right

get the v5 document number and look up old mots see if that helps

I hope you get the whole 12k back!

Thats alot of money in anyones circumstances. In your meeting with them (if you haven't had it already) bring up the 'threat' about them sending the best law firm. I'd put in a case for stress and harassment if they won't give you the full 12k.

Keep us up to date.

Default Autocheck Help!

Recently I purchased a car after running an Autocheck, speaking with the DVLA to verify the V5C and also checking the vehicle thorougly, including all VIN numbers, myself. It has now transpired that the vehicle was a stolen cloned vehicle and the vehicle has now been seized by the police. I am currently trying to claim against the DVLA,the V5C and tax disc were both authentic but tampered with; and Autocheck, the car registration I checked had been cloned and a vehicle with that registration recovered by the police in the previous 1-2 months. Additionally now I know the true VRM of the vehicle I purchased I ran another Autocheck. This came back clear despite the car being stolen a month ago. Can anyone help me on this? Has anyone had any sucess with similar claims?
