Certain truths in the statement I've qouted but you'll always get work with a HGV licence in your back pocket,

also a lot more people hold a licence to drive a white van than to drive a HGV which means more competition to be a white van man,

I was a red van man for eight years and would no way swap that over driving HGV's, HGV driving might be boring but its way less tearing around than being a van man

boring?i like it,listen to radio one all day,see awesome cars ALL the time (ive seen 2 veyrons on the road)i dont work ANY nights or weekends and take home a fairly decent wage.easy work, and when im finished for the day im finished,no pretending to work by standing around with a broom in the hangar (as i used to have to in the RAF) or sitting bored at the desk.on my breaks i watch a dvd or whatever,i choose when i take my break, stop for whatever food i want, when i want, pretty awesome i think, just that you have to work more hours than a normal job. (11-12 hours a day is the norm)

I drive a class 2 delivering bread for WARBIES and I love it,yes early starts(4am)but I'm usually back in the house for 1pm at the latest depending on which route I'm on sometimes home by 11am and the money isn't bad either.Used to be a store manager for Iceland and I'm now on about Ł6k a year more.Best thing I ever did was get my hgv licence

I'm on average wage I suppose, do start early, and it's job and knock.
No nights out, finish by mid-day somedays (will do 6am-10am tomorrow), no weekends.
Out on the road, no one watching over you, can stop when you want, listen to radio all day etc, a lot worse jobs about, and you'll always find work.
Mine gives me plenty of exercise too.
Mate is class 1 and is on 29k basic, plus night out money (cash) plus fiddles (cash).
That's in warrington, so cheaper cost of living too.

Getting paid for something I enjoy doing, At times seeing awesome scenery, Not stuck it an office full of sweaty mingers, sing all you like to Radio 2 and Ipod FM.

Some of the work out there is shit and crap pay, others are boring and decent paid,
I am trunking at the moment, very very easy money, I will change in a couple of years like when I get proper bored.
