Default ST 170

I ahve a problem with my 02 focus ST 170. every now and again it starts to judder and is close to stalling. i took it to a local mechanis and he thought the spark plug leads. we cahnged them but has made no difference. i can drive miles and it wont happen or i could drive 10 miles and it will happen 5 times. does anybody know how to fix this problem?? thanks Greg

iscv: idle speed control valve is a common issue on the focus. Located on throttle body housing. give it a good clean and replace the gasket and see how you get on. It could also be worth check the PCV pipes to see if they are soft/collapsing under load as this will cause an erratic idle but its more than likely iscv

plug leads? sounds like a good mechanic there, clearly having no idea but thought it was an easy way to make a few quid from you.

Take it into a Ford dealer, they wont give it back until its sorted and they dont charge as much as you'd think, depending on the job.
Saves you taking it too 5 different garages and wasting your money.
