Default Live map.. in the GB

Hi to you all english people..

I have been thinking about trying to get my Cosworth live mapped, most likely this year..... My specs are not to big, as I still drive "of the shelf" chips.

"simple" question :O) ... approx how much does it cost in GB and can you recommend someone, lets say on the east coast??

You are not going to tell me that there arnt any good cossie tuners in Denmark or norway or sweden. But the GB tuners named ^^ are proven to be good.

getting the ferry to harwich are you jan?

as above, there is nobody on the east coast anywhere. NMS and MSD are the only ones i would use for a live map on standard management. if you had aftermarket management you have more choices, but then i guess you would not need to come to uk.

if you want to keep std management, why not have your ecu converted by RP Lab, and then it can be live mapped by your chosen tuner in denmark?

I am not, that for sure ) !! Mostly beacause I havent got the knowledge to say so, but they are NOT on every streetcorner. I am aware of a few to be honest.

Do you have any experience with them then??

Yes.. that would be an option to save kilometers... maybe down south via Calais, but I am not that close the a solution, so I dont know.

Yes, I still have P8 fitted, and will keep it (it is good enough for my use as a amateurpublicroadstreetracer ) and yes, I have thought of RP, but have not checked anything out..how to, how much, userfriendly and whats involved etc.
But as said.. have had the though shortly as I am like any other person on this stage.. moddifing from time to time and when money is avaible, and then it would be nice to be able to adjust the management.

Aftermarket management.. no need yet!...... I hope

But the thought of trying livemap (maybe in the UK) would be me having a hope of a MUCH more dynamic car, and everything managment related done perfect to specs.

JanDK if your making the effort of coming all the way to the UK i wouldn't be too worried about who works out to be the closest for you as you might aswell trave; that extra distance if need be.

Depending what needs doing exactly and if parts need replacing etc i should think your looking at the minimum £300 but dont quote me on that.

I'd highly recommend Karl Norries @ NMS

heard a lot of good about STU @ msd but haven't used them meself

I'd call/email/pm the top well known mappers discuss what you want woth costs etc and go for it

Hope that helps

you also have to consider that you will have to leave you're car for a week in England if you take it to NMS or MSD.......

You are so correct.. its not THAT important if I should drive longer, just curious about what tuners having there buisness on the eastcoast... and yes one week wont matter, I could visit the car in the garage..... drink beers at your pubs, naahhhhh, waste of time ;o)

I will talk to who ever it will be, when ever, if it will be, but to ask the PF user you will usually get ALOT of different opinions, and then when I get MORE serious and know what I want, then I will "trouble" them.

If it helps your quest for more information, then I charge £500 to live map a P8 Jan.
A week may not be necessary if its not a very high spec engine. What are your intentions and what do you plan to use the engine for?

Also, what fuel will you be using overseas? Can you bring some with you for the mapping session?

Finally, if your on P8 and you dont use me, which is of course absolutely fine, please ensure your chosen mapper understands that you are using Weber Marelli P8 as there are very few people in Europe that can truly map one live. Most UK tuners use Pectel for it and that cant be mapped Live as Pectel never finished the communication system for it. You will probably find only tuners who dont use the old fashioned Pectel system, can actually do it live as opposed to making loads of changes and keep plugging chips in and out and testing it.

Its a long way to come to find out they cant do it is my point, so make sure you are clear about it being a P8 as most UK tuners swopped the Escorts to L8 for that very reason.
