Default insurance with non declared alloy's???

Hi, has anyone had an accident with non declared alloy wheels, and had an insurance assessor out to have a look?

I got hit by an idiot but the wheels wasn't declared as i didnt realise they were on there when i went to pick the vehicle up. just wandering if anyone has any idea if my insurance company will pay out or not. i was fully comp on short term cover and only had the vehicle 6 days!!!

Any help much appriciated.

Interesting, my Boss' partner crashed his car recently, he had 19's on instead of the original 16's but hadn't declared them.

They're wondering what will happen too.

you didnt realise they were on it? doesnt say much for your awareness of things around you.
depends if the insurance company wants to be cunts or not.

Wheels didn't go towards the accident/claim, so shouldn't matter hopefully.
Only time I had to declare wheels was on a cav, fitted cdi alloys to a gli, and premium went down!

Anything you knowingly don't declare could invalidate your insurance, use your brain and read the documents you receive, it could save you alot of money and hassle!

I got my Golf last week and when i did the insurance i declared everything, exhaust, non standard wheels, suspension etc, and it didnt really change the premium at all, infact im only paying an extra £60 a year over a 1.8 Escort GTi so im pretty impressed

as above if they wanna be cunts they can invalidate your claim, always declare all mods

Doesn't really work like that.
If you make a claim, parts you haven't declared that don't contribute to the claim, shouldn't come into it.
Still not good practice.

Take them off before he comes round?
Its worth declaring everything just in case they don't pay out ...theres no point in jeopardising a claim for the sake of something like that....

they wont not pay out but they might offer a reduced amount but as the 3rd party is paying it wont matter.
my mate wrote of his evo8 and it had passed its first mot due date by 2 months,he had simply forgot about it.they were a bit awkward for a while but are still paying out

If your car gets stolen and you have underclared mods, the insurance can refuse to pay as the mods are what made it a more attractive target ie wheels, bodykits etc.

If you have an accident and have mechanical mods including wheels, brakes, suspension then again, they can claim that the wheels will have a played a contributing factor, ie not what they came with from factory so not recomended by a manufacturer.

As said, depends on the insurance companies view, but if they have any excuse not to pay, then they wont.

If the assessor has not yet visited, get the wheel off and some standard ones on there.

The downside for you is - short term fully comp and had the car six days? the insurance will view this as a little dodgy.

yea, i didnt have chance to get the wheels changed as been in and out of the doctors and not bein able to move about too much. i got a mate out to take the engine out of it though and the assessor didnt worry about that at all. its just a pain in the ass.

I've got a car, with undeclared wheels....

I've put steelies on it instead of alloys.

Should i notify my insurance?

It's a ball ache with wheels, because i've had 3 sets on it in about 2 months. Can you really ring them that often?

I mean, i go out and change bits on my car weekly, how far can you go.

I would say they won't matter. Unless there 20 inch chromes and it came with 13" trims.

To be safe tho, stick something standard ish on it.

No MOT doesn't mean car is unroadworthy, so if it is there's no issue really.

was a 54 plate evo8 so it wasnt un-roadworthy.the crash wasnt his fault either but knowing how insurance companies try to wriggle out of things technically without an mot a car shouldnt be on the road so insurance could be void.
the insurance ombudsman made them get their fingures out but tescos insurance service have been a joke . the phones must be manned by care in the community chumps.

CAB, insurance ombudsman etc, never dealt with this, sure someone has...
The wheels didn't make it unroadworthy, and didn't contribute to the accident, so fingers crossed it works out ok.
Your wheels don't make other party any less liable.
