Slack Transfer Box Chain 4x4 Cos
just took the box out of my saph to change the centre diff. anyone know how much play is acceptable in the drop link chain?

if there is it tends to thrash abour int he casing causing even more wear
it won't be mega tight to the cogs as when you remove the cover you have to unsupport one sides bearingsbut remove it and do the droop test to see hwo much slack there is
if i can get to it i've got one in the garage that is about 3 weeks old and i'll show you what i mean

there is no way of testing the chain except when the end case is removed and you test for play (up & down movement) I have just fitted a new chain on my box and they are that tight when new i was amazed at how the thing didn't jump a tooth on the transfer gears.
