Default Insuring a Cat D write off ????

I,m looking at buying a cat D write off to repair and use as my daily smoker. Does anyone think i'll have any problems with my existing insurance cover when i phone them to change vehicles? I know that in the event of a claim it,ll be worth a fair bit less but will they insure it?
The easiest thing would be to ring them and ask but i,d rather hear peoples opinions/experiences first .

Cheers Gaz

Yeah dont see why not

You have to MOT it, then put it through a VIC check. So if the car has done this, then its as safe as any other car in my opinion, so shouldnt be singled out and bullied!

No problem what so ever... they probably wont even tell you but beware they will offer you less in the event of a claim.

as above, i've tried a few insurers and they're not fussed, but you'd get next to nothing in the event of a claim for the exact same sum of insurance money.

My 306 is CAT C, i had no problems. But as said above they won't mention that they'll pay out less.

cat d you can repair and mot but do not req a vic check, cat c repair and mot but they do req a vic been doing this for years you can get a lot newer car for a lot less bought a fiesta climate for the misses over a year ago it was 11 months old and got it for £4000 changed a ns wing, nsf hub , repaired a dent under the osr light and ended up with a car less than a year old and £5000 cheaper than a main dealer.
