At one time, being a Freemason could open doors for you, I think it is less so these days.
In times of need, Freemasons will help each other out of the shit.

Very well put mate. I'm liking that alot.

As I said previously - I'd love to know where Tabetha get his information from, I really would..........because he is most definately misinformed and misguided about Freemasons.

To recognise the handshake observe the following, a firm pressure around the base of the thumb area of the person who is shaking your hand, and pressure with the finger second one away from the thumb.
Just because someone is NOT a mason does not mean they NEVER WERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

theres no doubting tht they can influence things tho imo.how far that goes ive no idea? but i do know that it can help in work and business etc.
but thats like anything in life really you would always help your mate or brother if you could
Daviet, My comments about uninformed BS were not aimed at you at all.
There are undoubtably Masonic brothers on here just as there are folk who spout tabloid stories as facts.

tabetha, Claiming that the Masons just make token charitable gestures as a smokescreen for more sinister activities is laughable.

Wazzzer, Can you post a link to ONE creditable source for your information?

Tabehta, i'm sorry - but there is MUCH more to it than that. And if you ever were a Mason, you always are. Unless you really upset people. End of.

Anyway, this thread is just going to turn into another x pages of hearsay and utter pish.

15D you weren't there mate so you don't know what went on. Like I said its probably a bit different down here as its a smaller community. I have no links to anything as it was all dealt with by the courts. I did however see 3 different statements with varying content all with my mums signature on the bottom but she only ever signed and wrote one. The bloke admitted in court that he undertook her on a dual carriageway (an offence in itself), pulled in front of her and stopped, causing her to crash into the back of him. He then pulled my mum out of her car tearing her rotator cuff in her arm but he apparently did this to stop her driving erratically and to protect the general public. He got off with the charge of common assault and my mum ended up having to pay his costs.

He was given a character reference by a copper who was the brother in law of the copper who attended the scene. Both of the coppers were masons. The bloke who asaulted my mum was a mason and we know this for a fact. It's all too much of a coincedence TBH

Anyways I've said my piece, nothing anyone can do or say will take away my experience and views of the masons. daviet asked for views on the masons and this is mine

Sorry mate, but everything you have said above could be down to them being police and police only, nothing to do with Masons.

It's easy to point the finger of blame.

I'm sorry for the experience your mum had to go through, it can't have been nice.

Thought that was Prince Phillip? He is the top boy in this country.

I remember a while back a proposal to make freemasons declare themselves, expecially politicians, and police/judges, when Labour first got into power.

Soon swept that under the carpet.

I am in round table and know a few Masons. All I can say is based on my experiences there is a lot of bull on this thread and not too many facts ...

The guys I know are active local community members, have helped with a lot of charity work and have close links with other organizations such as Rotary, Table, Lions etc - hardly the bunch of criminals being suggested by some ...

It was once a subject of great interst to me, my Grandfather & his family having routes firmly embeded in the order of the Knights Templar and other masonic orders, my Grandmother was in the ES and again other masonic orders.
I have had the opportunity to meet loads of Gentlemen over the years who were members of varying orders and at varying degree's. Some were fairly open others stuck to their oaths and quickly diverted conversation away from the subject of the Craft(a classic masonic trait).
A lot can be learned on the subject from books, the net and from former masons who have turned their backs on Freemasonry.
I guess like everything in life knowledge contacts and power work together hand in hand, where theres knowledge and power it often leads to abuse.
Like I say I have met some real genuine, honest men of principle types who happened to be masons, after much research and finding out as much as i could from the outside, I decided it was not for me. Each to their own.
