Default Typical speeding fine/points.....

Got the lovely letter this morning.

88 in a 70.........

I've had a clean licence for ages, and not so much as been pulled over in years, I've no idea what to expect.

Send off the NIP, and then what happens?

What am I looking at based on what other people have had? 3 points and £60? More?

Bastid cameras there's a real chance of you running down a child playing on the hard shoulder eh ? Not. And they say cameras aren't money making devices. What a total load of horseshit.

That is definitely manageable......

Hooligan Tiff?! I'm usually such a good boy!

The safety camera partnerships etc are so up on technology, they even allow you to download the guilty pic online!

Busted!

I presume one should inform the insurance company as a matter of course?

As far as im aware, you dont have to inform them till renewal time, thats what 2 different companies have told me when I tried to inform them in the past.

It might come, but then since Phil would never get done for speeding like this as he'd have to have a working car, AND be able to leave the house!

88 though - if onyl I'd switched on the flux capacitor!

shouldnt the cross hair be on the plate?

it has to be on a flat surface as you get 'slip' on the bonnet, especially with the shape of the mr2

also, if on the M4 east from chippenham to swindon, just past J17 the cunts are nigh on ALWAYS on the bridge as you go down the hill (same in opposite direction)

and as you now know, around J15 too.

occasionly can be in between but they are the 2 hotspots.

Thats exactly where "my mate" got caught except heading westbound, unfortunately doing slightly more than 88mph though! Nine odd years with a clean license as well

I didn't see him till it was far too late......

That section of road is pretty straight, so could have been from a fair distance, even though I did brake when I clocked it.

SP30 I'd have thought.
SP60 gets the insurance rocketing, this is hardly worthy.
SP70 doesn't exist, so hopefully you'll get that one

i think one flashed on me today....

well it did flash but not sure if it had me as a clio in front was pulling away from me through the camera (not racing) but another car on the opposite side was going a bit quick also...

the camera was on the other side so would it have got me? as there still markings my side..

I got £60 and 3 points for 40 in a 30 - i think it goes on percentages over. i was 25% over and got that so you should be OK. i think £60/3 pts is the standard fine

Blackburns a fucking shit hole. big fucking wide road, no speed limit signs or anything, came round a corner and FLASH!

Way too fast ... apparently lol and its still an ongoing thing. Needless to say, I don't think it will be pleasant in any case.

i had an NIP recently for 45 in a 30 and have been offfered a fixed penalty of 3 points and £60 fine

don't know if i'll accept it though, as it was a mobile camera that are notoriously unreliable and i almost never speed in 30 zones (not to that extent anyway, maybe up to 35)

if they can supply 2 photo's proving it, i would happily accept it, but ot get that evidence you have to first plead not guilty and be prepared to go to court.

one picture proves nothing rich

Maybe Nick, but there are two pictures.

The website you can access also provides you with the location of the van on that day, the calibration certificate for the gun that was used etc....

I don't mind owning up to it. I was speeding. Personally, I'm just glad I wasn't going any faster like I might have been at other points on the journey!

They LOVE sitting around the swindon area of the m4 and anywhere between j18 to j15 i know a few people not local to that area who get caught, its got to be the most speed checked area of the m4 along with newport!
its apparantly a really dangerous section of motorway with one of the highest accident rates of any uk motorway, unsure of the truth but there is always a lot of accidents!

No, you can just ask for the photos. You don't need to plead not guilty first. I got mine without pleading not guilty.

really? who and where do you ask? the letter i got from thames valley police said that they would only be provided in the event of a court case

if there are 2 pictures clearly showing me speeding then i am quite happy to accept the punishment.
