I'm a fan actually. I think he's improved London, and a charge for cars that consume a lot of fuel is a good idea. London would be a better place if less people drove, and it would be a better place if there were less emissions.

Ken is a brave individual who is actually doing something to reduce emissions rather than just talking about it. His plans to improve the cycling experience in London are superb and a very confident move.

If you choose to drive a Range Rover or a Porsche in a city where you average 12mph or less then you should be able to pay the congestion charge.

I live in Southwark, I have a BMW 328 estate (which we hardly ever use) and a Sapphire Cossie race car. I cycle to work or use the train.

So we are not talking congestion charge here then - what is being proposed is a consumption charge...

If everyone in london bought a electric type car London would be just as busy as its always been..

The £25 congestion charge also covers people who may have

for example a 3.0S classic Ford Capri

What a toss pot. From june, starting to charge £200 per day to take older coaches inside m25. lorries already being charged. What produces more pollution. 1 coach with 50 people on or 20 odd cars. low emission zone my arse. could rant on about this all day..........

I agree with the principle as I think the larger gas guzzlers and high emission cars should not be allowed in London or should be taxed if people choose to use them BUT why not charge these people £100 a day or £1000 a day if they actually want to stop it?

£25 a day is like raising the tax on cigarettes by 25p. It won't stop anywhere near as many people doing it as would actually make a difference and will just increase tax revenue.

I agree with Char1ie. Ken may be an obnoxious cnut but he's actually trying to do something for the city [as well as his prospects for a large salary for himself in the private sector when he eventually gets kicked out].

And I should think there's THOUSANDS of people commuting into the city in one of those each day, and even more that live within the congestion zone that own one and use it to drop the kids off at school

When the fuck did the low emission rules apply to cars?

The fucking public information on this "scheme" is fucking atrocious! First they said they were gonna do it, but never told anyone what area it would cover, hinting at it only being the same area as the congestion zone, then said it would "ban" vehicles that don't meet requirements from entering the zone, only to be told - if you actually asked, it wasn't freely spoken off - that you could still enter if you paid a ridiculous ammount of money to Then through the launch of the campaign, it kept stating it had applied to private coaches, lorry's, etc, but not cars (and seemingly not London buses, the biggest pollutors of them all ) and now it seems cars aren't exempt either?

Fucking Ken is a joke.....
