Big power diesels

Unlike petrols you wont blow up by running lean, so its not that hard in many respects, its mostly about cramming enough fuel and air in, so strength. but you alre always screwed by a rev limit of about 5.5k even on a top engine.
Full on modded diesels run up to 250psi boost.

granted the Audi is quite a large capacity so you would expect pretty good power/torque, bur could you make some thing like a 306 TD silly fast?

With the right amount of cash, then yup, 1.9 306 TD could be made mental, to the limit of whatever the block can take, which is usually a lot on a diesel engine.
Obv your limited by rpm, which again limits turbo size, which again limits power, but thats what nitrous and superchargers are for
In most circumstances it makes much more sense to just start with a petrol tho!
(306 TDs, like any TD engine, can be made a good lot faster with some fairly mild and obvious mods tho, mai0n issue is the lack of understanding in the UK tuning world to diesel tuning

We've had a few chipped Pump Deuse engined cars now and none of them have seemed to suffer from reduced fuel economy. I can't vouch much for the common rail stuff as I'm not a massive fan [had untold problems with mondeos especially]
Whenever someone mentions diesel and power though, I always think of this that someone posted on here a while back:

108,000 BHP engine conversion would be quite handy in a 306 DT?

Never actually seen them in action but have read about them a few times in mags
Does the fact that they are diesel also mean they need to refuel less?

you never thought maybe they decided to build em like that, same as they deliberatly mapped em to have no visible diesel smoke, as it was all a big advertising excersise?
they sound like any other engine...

My old man has an Audi A8 4 litre twin turbo v8 diesel and it really is fast but still with good economy.
There was a 205 gti in practical performance car that had a tuned diesel lump with huge torque. They could be the future unfortunately!

A guy up the road from me has a Skoda Fabia vRS. Is pretty nice imo, have a bit of a soft spot for them. He's slowly been doing it up and is looking very nice (red dot brakes, OZ rims, tinted, exhaust, chipped etc etc)
Only thing is, it sounds absolutely ridiculous. Usual diesel chug and rattle and idle, and when booting it, a very blowy rattling noise
Don't think you could ever get a tuned noise out of a diesel
