Default Video editing experts... What softwares best?

Must be compatible with the AVCHD HD 1080 format though.

The new camcorder comes with Pinnacle Studio plus HD edition bundled. Any good?

I'm told that ULead Video Studio (currently on Version 11 as far as I know) is excellent.

I've not been able to find a working 'Trial' version to find out though.

I use Sony Vegas 8.0 - its semi pro

Allegedly its one some of the torrent sites not that I would condone illegally downloading the latest version with all the plugins

Yes, illegal downloading is bad. I am studying this at college, could someone send me a link to such a site so that I can write an essay on what you shouldn't do?
