Default new clutch on sti scooby. how much roughly??

My sisters boyfriends car broke yesterday. Was driving along the motorway as his revs started picking up but no increase in speed.
was basicially redlining but no power.

he says that the clutch hadnt started slipping leading up to it, it just went.

is that possible? all clucths Ive know go wrong had started going slowly.

does anyone know a decent place in london/essex that would do the job and roughly how much it would cost??

cheers

Normally get some judder first.

Most people i know have had new flywheels as well (or skimmed where possible) because of the cracking that can occure due to the heat, not always though, depends if you catch then in time.

Ive seen prices range from Ł250-Ł500 fitted some with a fly wheel skim ,somewithout.
