Default a sincere apology

In the firing line for loads of abuse here and deserve every bit, but i would like to apologise about the power engineering thread sent from our work pc today, it was unprofessional of us to allow Gary to post using our computer, i gathered if someone traced the IP it would show as us but never thought people would think we were actually the originators of the post, which i swear on my sons life was not written by us, again sorry to all those involved and i wish Matt, Ian and PE all the best for the future.

I find it hard to believe that you as a 'professional company' would let a customer use your pc to slate another company in the same game!

So, I dont know about other people but I find your post a bit hard to believe!

how did the person get the idea to come on the computer and post it tho?
as did he not only join today?suppose he joined when he was there aswell
who knows what to belive?he may have left pe wi nothing wrong with his car and drove to his mates at torque to get a dogy fuel relay fitted, then went back to his mates again to get a known dodgy fuel pump fitted gain to make it look like pe cant find faults?
ive no idea if that could be the real story or not but its probably more believable than yours
anyway is your mate gary going to pay his Ł200 bill??

He is not a mate, he is a customer who had some work carried out on his car and was not happy, he then ended up at our establishment with the arse and asked us to sort it out, why would i turn work away?, i have no beef with power engineering, i worked alongside matt and ian for many years and have respect for both of them, it was not a malicious attack on power engineering from us and the original post did not mention that we were the ones rectifying the work.

I am not wrong to have let someone air their anger, but i am guilty of lending them the use of the tool to do so, and that is the reason for my apology.

thats fair enuf... and it does take a stronger person to appologise, however i think its the fact that he must have regestered while at your shop, and posted the thread while his car was being worked on...

GaryFRST regestered today, and has 2 posts to his name, one slating PE and the other a sort of appology back tracking what he said. i cant comment on either of your or PE's work as i have never used either of you, however it does look ever so suspicious, especially since PE has just got new owners...

I don't know anyone concerned, and i didn't read the original posts so I think I can speak impartially.

Why would you let a customer, who you don't even know use your computer?

You maybe are being completley genuine but I'm lost as to why you would let a member of the public use a PC that is (I would assume) in your office, without you being there? I know I wouldn't let a customer in my office, let alone let them use a PC.

funny Chris, all i hear is that a lot of your time is spent slagging off P.E. which includes myself & Iain, i'm touched that your that worried about us

when me & Iain were talking about working together we agreed that we wouldn't slag TOTD off, we didn't need to, it seems with your childish ways your doing a good job yourself

Chris, it would seem you need to check up on the word respect, i had some for you & put that infront of my business!

the chap with the frst was meant to be returning to us to have his boost upped & everthing re-checked, he said he knew very little about cars yet he didn't take our word, he got the hump & came to you, instead of you telling him the truth or trying to put anything right you backstabbed us & slagged off our work.

low, very low.

Which of the following scenarios is true please?

1) The customer came in and started slagging power engineering off for things like making sure he had a decent fuel pump, and you, despite knowing that they had done the right thing, allowed him to carry on thinking they had done something wrong to replace it.

2) You are so clueless you dont know why a dodgy fuel pump is a dangerous thing to have for an engine run flat out on the rollers

3) You genuinely believe that Power Engineering in someway did something wrong, such as replace a working pump because they are incompetent

4) Other - Please specify

You CLEARLY had spoken to the customer in detail about it, so I dont really see how you can say it didnt involve you at all, for them to just happen to sign up to a forum you reguarly use from your pc and post all that in your prescence (im assuming you dont just leave people on your pc unsupervised as they could be looking at customer information, or land you in trouble for downloading child porn or whatever)

Although it looks very damning... Surely Chris deserves the right to at least put forward an explination? I know I wouldn't personally swear on my kids life over something unless I meant it...

Maybe he's simply guilty of being somewhat Nieve? For allowing someone to use his PC.

Admit that you were the author of the second post then. Because it's so bloody obvious that it was your (poor) attempt at damage limitation.

I certainly wouldn't bring any car of mine to you after this.

very well said indeed, i dont think anyone is going to find out the truth about what really happened but im sure he wouldn't risk his business over something like that becuase he could quite easly lose alot of business and to swear on his childs life thats his own fresh and blood says it all really... I think hes being honest.
Remember this is this mans livelyhood and what he does to put a roof over his family, do you think he'd risk it over a silly post... atleast look at the situation from his side

looking in on this it just seems very unproffesional that totd would let a customer loose on the work computer for any reason without keeping a very careful eye on what they were doing/saying/writing......

why cant people just live and let live?
