Default Cleaning a YB Head

Right before i refit the head i want to clean the head, as there are alot of little bits of shit floating round in the top of the head, from either removal of parts or transport for it being checked, and also from me cleaning the head face.

The head is bare apart from valves & springs

My question is:

Can i degrease the head then power wash it or is that not advisable with the valve in?

Any advice would be great

Surely the oilways are too important to NOT clean, all the above will not even touch the oilways.
If you look on the end of the head you will find at each end and under each cam a grub screw(aalen) blocking off the oilway that feeds the tappets, at the rearmost area WILL be loads of old congealed oil just waiting to float out and block something up, get some proper block cleaning brushes and clean these out, you would have enough here on a used head to half fill a egg cup, full of grit crap and old rubbishy bits, work front to rear, so you don't drag towards oilways which are all fed from here.

I've used a dishwater to clean parts before, no probs. Also used the oven to bake a motorbike even prior to paint!

tabetha, cheers for the tip, the head is only like 6k since build so im hoping it not gunked up, but i might clean them as a matter of course.

not a clue where to get block cleaning brushes from, and to be honest sounds like a right hassle.

Think i just need to give a good clean to get rid of dust and gasket remants.

not as bad as me mate

i fucked the dishwasher.

brand new aswell

apparantly there is a pressure sensor in the bottom of the dishwasher to tell it when its empty and needs to stop pumping water out. This obviously got coated in oil, and stop operating thus making the pump run constantly, and overheating

she still doesnt know till this day, lucky it was brand new and under warrenty

the engineer even said to me, it smell very odd in the dishwasher
