ipod / computer / media player speakers
i've just bought another squeezebox for the bedroom to have some tunes up there
https://www.ripcaster.co.uk/node/12
already got one in the kitchen hooked up to a philips micro hifi with DAB, but wanted something a bit more simple (especially as the squeezebox will play internet radio) and with good sound.
for my archos personal media player, i have a jbl on tour for travelling, and whilst good sound for the size, it's not good enough for a permanent install
looking around on t'internet and hifi mags, i found recomendations for the Audioengine 5 Speaker System which is one active speaker with power supply and amplifier built in and an output to the other speaker. the good thing about them is that they also have a power socket (euro 2 pin) on the rear that the squeezebox power supply can plug into.

for your ipods or other mp3 players etc, they have an input socket on the top and a usb socket that can be used to charge it
the sound is great, i'm really pleased with them and can highly recommend them
they are kind of portable as well as they come with little drawstring bags for protecting the speakers and one for all the cables that are supplied, although they are heavy
i bought from ripcaster and had a good service (have ordered from them in the past - QNAP TS109 NAS to store all music, pictures, video etc https://www.ripcaster.co.uk/node/62 - and been pleased) and they are local to me in Reading
