NCB Question
I'm Thinking about taking out a second insurance policy in the next couple of months for a second/weekend car. Renewal on my daily driver is due say in two months time.
Whats to stop me:
- Getting a quote from Insurance company 'B' for weekend car.
- Recieving proof of No Claims from company 'A' who insures my daily driver, and taking it to company 'B'
- Renewing my existing insurance with company 'A'.
Which will leave me with 2 x policies, on two different cars, starting on the same date(ish). Both using 6 years no claims, which is true, as I haven't claimed for six years?
Who will know? How can they check? Is it wrong/illegal? What's the outcome?
Cheers

Why not just get a mirrored ncb policy...loads of companies do it? Fair play you lose the ncb on both if you claim unless you have protected ncb..but you would be able to have protected no claims if you have 6 years ncb anyway. I think you need at least four years to get it?
You can't use the same ncb on two separate policies as it's illegal. But as you can get protected no claims...why not get that, mirrored to two cars. I think you then get like four claims on a policy don't you before the protection runs out (sure someone can clarify this)?!
So giving you a legal, 6 years no claims on two cars that is protected if you claim on either car.

im not sure how it works but all insurance goes through one big data base so u cant do that, you maybe able to do it if you have a second address and some how do it that way
Thanks all!
I will check if mine does mirrored NCB but don't think they do, one would be modified and one would be standard too so not the best through a broker I don't think.
Anyone else?
