Loose the linkage all together mate, just use focus gear lever/unit and the cables... Thats the easy part

Hoe easy is it to convert to Cable from Rod linkage?

Or is it already cable

Im thinking of losing the rod on my car and going cable so i get a better position for gear changing!

Depends on the transmission mate i think, i have removed all of the rod/linkage components from the gearbox/mounts through to the lever assembley itself and then fitted everything from the focus..
so its all focus cable operated just made to fit in a smaller space.

I would presume you would need a box that runs cables to begin with to do what you want.

Still alot of messing around to do, what you have to remember is you need to use everything to a st170 set up as the fly and clutch is not the same as any other zetec type.

cant use focus rs clutch nor flywheel...
not many decent clutches that will handle the torque on the market.

i run mtx75 with quaife atb, equal length shafts, its been in for about 2000miles now and gets abuse every time its out, never had any problems, car is 262@wheels,done all work myself, cost nothing like 2 grand.my new project will be running 6 speed though as mines tops out at 157mph@6500rpm,thats running 3.8 final drive,6 speed gatrac is good for more than that, and in my opinion is easier to fit, each to there own though.

I nearly went fot the 6 speed, but the problem is the ratio's. 6th gear is lower geared than 5th on a std RST. With so much torque in a light car, it really doesn't suit me for road use. MTX with 3.4 diff for me i think.
