i started looking on here and on the rsoc bb and theres some numpty asking £10,000 for one
theres a couple priced around 8 grand aswell .
tell me , are these people a few tiles short of a roof ?? my mate has around 3 grand to spend on one surely thats gotta be enuff for a standard average condition s1

they are out there at that price but you going to have to look hard and be lucky. i want to start looking for 1 soon and think a sensible budget to get a decent 1 would be around 5k!

Ive bought 2 Series 1's before. The first one was £2250 which was a decent car and the 2nd was £2700 which was very tidy, decent history and full engine rebuild with a decent spec.
They are out there you just have to keep lookin. Ive looked at loads before and it seems to me that some peope ask stupid money for right sheds just cause its a Series 1. You just have to look at as many as possible untill the right one comes along.

I think there are a mixture out there, as with any car.
Series 1's are getting more and more expensive as the classic status improves with age and as cars are either broken for spares or stacked, the price goes up to reflect the rarity value.
Cars in the lower price bracket will either be for quick sale or people unaware of their value in the enthusiasts market or shed's.
Conversely, at the upper price bracket the cars are either: very low mileage examples, standard but low owners and clean; full photo restoration, rebuilt engine and of concourse standard through and through; or are people with OK cars looking to reap the extra cash that people are willing to spend just because of the heritage/market demand.
I love these cars and will at some point have one on my driveway and I would spend around £4k for a restored car with rebuilt engine then modify the power myself as I see fit. I will of course leave the cars "looks" standard to give it that street sleeper look and as many will agree Ford just got it right and I don't think anything needs improving. Only suspension and brakes would possibly force some obvious changes, with the wheels needing to be changed to allow the fitting of 4pots and 330mm and a slight lowering on coil-over’s.
Good luck finding a minter buddy!

i can see these things getting more and more rare but i dont see how the hell any1 can justify those kinda prices
i mean lets be honest here its a mk3 escort with a turbo lump
i know for certain that if i had 5 grand to spend on another rs it wouldnt be a mk3 scort !! i could go and buy a sensible specced saff for that .
i will let my m8 know he's gna have to either up his price bracket or spend months lookin for the right one in the right place

Looked at tons of em and owned two and £5k is top money. For this money you expect super SUPER tidy minters with lowish miles and tons of history - usually had a proper rebuild too (shell)
3-4k is the sort of money you wanna be spending for a nice tidy honest S1, probably round the 80-110k cars, either std or modded but in general clean condition - no rust rot, straight panels, no missing parts etc
£2-3k is a greay area - can find some proper good cars (I just sold mine in the price bracket and mine was a nice motor) with goodish history and honest miles, but then you can find a lot of mutton dressed as lamb too![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
£1-2k is for shitters - badly rotton or non runners that need work and are only sold as resto projects....
Under £1k - well I'd never buy one for under £1k
Probably not even a S1 if at this price RINGER RINGER RINGER!!!!! lol

Just becarefull, the rust has really set into most of these cars and to make matters worse they have been bodged up a few times to get them through MOTs making the rust situation even worse.
I brought mine off Thrush for £1200 (i think it was). The interior is very clean and tidy with nothing missing, it also had a nearly new Mongosse exhaust and it has loads and loads of history, other than that it was a shitter (sorry Thrush), i also own a body shop and over the last year ive had to weld the thing back together, no major problem as IMO it was cheep and i brought it as a project.
Just beware and good luck to him in finding a nice example

As I did in the ad post aswell....
I knew it was s shitter, you knew it was a shitter hence why I sold it for £1100 and you bought it for £1100
If I hadn't have realised it was a shitter or thought that it wasn't I wouldn't have advertised it for shitter money

ive seen a mint one for sale for £4000 with 50,000
my mate know's a guy who had one sitting outside his house rustin away it was there for some time had 2 owners from new and done about 34,000 mile but as it needed wings sills and front panel he sold it for £400.
i also know someone that has spent shit load's of money on restoring one but never finished it, there is load's of new part's from ford and other spare's with it and he was asking a good price for it.

For £1100 you could have nearly got that back from breaking it.
Might have it finished one day!!
