Default Cosworth Specialist For A Standard Car

i got my saph about 2 months ago and theres a few things that bother me about it, i am new to cossies so i havnt got alot of knowledge on them

what i need is a cossie specialist who is freindly and has time to fully check my car over, i have tried a couple places but because it isnt a big bhp beast they dont seem to interested in helping me!

i just want to make the car reliable i have no interest in upping the power anytime soon

i live near northampton so anywhere realisticly acesable from here would be great!

thanks for any advice as im stuck with this one

Std ones are the best ones to look after IMO...

Give them a wide berth as it sounds like they just wanted to rag it around the streets. .

Give Motorsport Developments a ring, they are in Blackpool, thier number is in my sig, you won't find a better specialist in the country IMHO, me and many friends have taken our cars there, top service and what they don't know about these cars could be written on the back of a stamp .We drive all the way from south of Birmingham, well worth it ...

As already mentioned, Karl Norris from Norris MotorSport is probably your best bet as he is local to you.

Contact details can be found on his website:

http://www.norrismotorsport.co.uk/

I believe he gets quite busy, so you may have to suffer a bit of a wait, but based on what all his happy customers say about his work, im sure it will be worth it

i know what you mean but that really is abit of an extreme distance to get a bit of work done, there must be some good places closer than that, ive heard good things about NMS

what do people think of jamsport, just round corner from me but people have told me not to go there but not said why

Anyone who tells you something but wont tell you their reason for saying it, is often talking bollocks IMHO.

I know plenty of people who have been very happy with the service they have had at JamSport, Jamie is a good guy and a true petrolhead as well, im sure he will look after you if you choose to go to him, although I must confess I tend to thinnk of him more in the context of RS Turbos than Cossies, but im sure he actually works on cossie's too even if its not what he is as well known for.

You would be better going to Karl as he is a Cosworth Expert... Jamsport might be ok though- dont hear much bad about them- or anything at all..

give ILA Motors a call and ask for Andy Fisher, 01527500455......he can do any mechanical work to the very highest standard ...he has worked on them for years, working for brooklyn's rs500 race team and rally cars too.

based in Redditch.

for any mapping or setups use NMS or MSD.

Micheal, the mount wasnt wodden, the wood was only in there to take up the slack from a knackered rubber, even if the bit of wood had some out, the worst that would have happened is the engine rock slightly, the wood wasnt taking any weight at all, people have made a big fuss over nothing about that TBH.
Ok so its a bit "spurs and a 10 gallon hat" but as temporary roadside repairs
go its not the worst thing ive seen by a long way, and was NOT unsafe which is all that matters.

Nice guy too IMHO, so its a shame people were on his case over it. Also an AWESOME driver round that track, SO quick!

As for the no insurance, I cant comment on that as I dont know, but surely he has traders insurance for any car?

Thats a TOTALLY different person to PJ though, no connection at all between them that im aware of.

Give Craig a shout at CM Tuning, they are based in Kettering, which is only 25 miles from Towcester. ( I used to live in Towcester, do I know you?)

He has all the tools and knowledge to checkover your car and gives a very good service.

07749 107678

Craig is also a Dealer for MSD so if you require any chips then at least you know they will be the best.

Good Luck

:
Nobody will beat Stu for postage.

I have seen him take payment for an order at 4.45 and it be in the post by 5.05, next day recorded.

Its amazing the difference it makes when you order something and it arrives the next day.

Big Up MSD.

thanks for all the replys some good info there i think i will give jamsport or cm tuning a bell as they are both close to me, the person who said stay away from jamsport simply said "because they are dodgy" and voiced some clearly outrageous rumours!

thanks again for all you help

Im surprised at that, as TBH there are other tuners mentioned in this thread with FAR "dodgier" history than Jamie has!

Im afraid its a sad fact of life that many tuners (NOT including Jamie as far as im aware, he's pretty much whiter than white compared to a lot of the others) have been involved in some sort of serious car crime in their past, either intentionally, or through some bad decisions on who they ascociate with.
