Right when looking for a new car battery and you have the choice of 3 different rating ones what do the rating mean?
Got the choice of 43 AH, 60 AH or 71 AH is this the inital cranking output? or the substained Amps per hour output? What circumstances would you need a higher rating one? The recommended one for a Escort Petrol 1.6 is only the 12v 43AH but there are the Escort 1.8D 12v 71 AH with the same fitting terminals as the petrol, so would the diesel battery be a better choice?
Im looking at Bosch silver batteries, but the website says they now do "Silver plus" but cant find any part numbers or battery numbers for an Escort
Cheers for any help

Amps per hour.
Ie a 100amp battery would supply 2 amps for 50 hours without the need for recharge.
Higher AH batteries will usually have a bigger / greater cranking capacity, this does not necessarily mean it will start your car any better if its having starting problems tho'.
If your running lots of electrics in your car on short journeys then the diesel option would be better. A car batterys life span drops considerably faster if drained constantly below 60% reserve power all the time, so a higher reserve battery would in theory last longer.
Fit the diesel one

I would say to use an 085 for standard or 097 if you run lots of ice etc.
These are universal part numbers most part outlets (halfords etc) will list these numbers.
