steve i have had EXACTLY the same problem with my LG.
You have to call Vodafone for a subsidy unlock code, then will then get the manufacturer to write to you with the code!!
Ive been waiting 5 weeks for mine though already and have been told it can take up to 8 weeks!
Oh... and it cost me Ł15

n80's can be unlocked now. They never used to be, but in the last few months unlocking has become possible and mainstream, so you should be ok with it.
