Default coopers O ring headgasket

my headgasket is weeping down the block under the exhaust i have been told that i dont have to replace the fire rings and can just replace the actual gasket!has anyone done this just replaced the gasket and left the fire rings?as it is alot cheaper

the wire ring just gets reused again and you only need a standard gasket when using the wire ring.

get a late escort cosworth gasket.

maybe i will do it then as the price of a coopers O ring with the fire rings is Ł400 plus where as i think the gasket is just Ł50

a wire rung block you have yes....

if so,why use an expensive gasket.

i paid Ł420 two weeks ago for one off ggr... beware of cheaper ones!! be carefull there is a difference between wire wrung and coopers ring gasket.....

no dont think we are i have got a coopers O ring headgasket it the same idea as i wired block but u have sodium filled fire rings that sit around the bore where grooves have been machined out of the block to take them!

i know i got my last one from burtons the rings did not even fit did not realise at that stage it is there own one and not a genuine one like the ones from g.g.r!out of interest how did your rings fit?are u changing it due to it weeping down the block?

you better change the rings also as the old ones do get compressed(albit they may look fine) from the head!

you have to change the rings also as said once compressed no good.give me a bell 250 all in or pm me 01444 881007
