Default a list of your first few cars.

from 1987,when i passed my test i was car mad which was fuelled by being around them all through my apprenticeship to the current day, many years later.
god where do i start-
well my first car was a datsun 120y automatic-£150 and it did 109mph on the speedo!
from then it was a green mini that was absolutely rotten, then a blue mk2 escort 4 door with 205 tyres on the rear and a rev counter where the driver air vent was!!!
traded that in for a beige 1100 mk2 escort cos it was a 2 door which got wrote off by some old guy!
my first car bought with a loan(!)was in 1988 when i was 18,a black v reg truimph dolomite 1500 twin carb with all the sprint bits fitted(seats, wheels etc)cost me £750 and i thought i was god....but for some reason the shit thin wheel studs kept snapping-not good when thats what hold the wheel on
i then got my first proper ford-a p reg 1977,x-pack mk2 escort 1600 sport.put a 2.0 in from the scrappy, new cage and painted it with grey primer.

got banned via a points tot up for 3 months-nightmare-had to walk everywhere or get lifts.sold the escort and with my works xmas bonus added to it i bought a 3.0s capri, but had to wait for 2 weeks for my ban to end.

anyway i could go on all night(and next day),but that was my first few cars from the late 80's to early 90's

Passed my test 6 weeks after my 17th birthday, August 1987

Renault 14 GTL bought that for £150 did it up & sold it before i was 17 !
In 1987, Fiesta 1.1 Ghia S reg was 1st car on the road for me,then the list below, normally changed my cars every six months or so in the old days
Alfa Sud 1.5Ti 1979
Alfa Sud Sprint veloce 1.7 1981
BMW 320 E21 1980
Alfa Sud sprint 1.3 1978
BMW 323i E21 1978
Porsche 914 1.7 LHD 1971
BMW 323i E21 1981
Capri 2.8i 1984
BMW E28 528i 1983
Capri 2.8i 1983
Sierra XR4i 1984
Vauxhall Cavalier coupe 1980
XR3i 1984
Capri 2.8i 1984
XR4i 1984
Escort RS turbo 1987 Series 2
Escort RS turbo 1990
Sapphire Cosworth 2wd 1988, I'm upto 1995 now
Escort RS turbo 1990 had this for 2 weeks, was shit after used to a cossie for the last yr
Sapphire 4x4 Cossie
Cavalier GSI 2000 16v whilst i was skint recovering from the cost of cossie ownership
Escort RS2000 4x4 1995 model
BMW E36 325i 1993
BMW M3 E36 1993
Sierra Cosworth 3dr 1986
Volvo 850R 1996
Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 1991

After all that i currently have a Volvo V70R manual 03 plate & a E36 M3 Evo 1998 S plate, i tend to keep my cars for longer these days as it costs far too much to keep chopping & changing, out of all that lot one of my favourite cars was the E28 528i,was a manual one with Recaro type seats & fully loaded i was only 20yrs old & thought it was great

Probably have missed 1 or 2

Simon.

Fiesta Pop Plus - 957cc beast
Skoda Estelle - Yes really, has daft engine and black flames painted down sides/bonnet
Audi GT - Nice car, rolled it.
Granada 2.8i - Bought when I worked on Revs. Abandoned it in Peterborough
BMW 325i E30 - Money pit
Golf GTi - Awesome car, would love another

Then a years ban knocked me off the 'car ladder'

Mondeo 2.0LX estate - Nasty nasty nasty £500 snotter
Escort 1.8Si estate - Worthy but dull car, depreciated £60 in two years
Mondeo ST200 estate - currently have, love it.

Not a particularly amazing list, but thankfully work has provided me with a lot of incredible drives over the last 11 years.

How the fuck could you afford to buy a cossie when you were only 15 !!!!!!

When i was 15 it took me about a year of doing odd jobs to get together the money to buy my first bike which was a Honda MB-50 that cost me £90 !!!!!

Loved these old things and had a few of them in my time.

Over the years i've had prob well over 400 cars as my younger brother used to keep track of every car i bought and who i sold it to and at the last count prob somewhere around 1997 or so it was at 340 and have had quite a few since then !!!!!

First car i had on the road was a 1978 1.1 Fiesta that i bought with a fucked engine and it was rotten !!!! Repaired it and put it on the road and thought i was uber cool as fitted the rev counter dash from a Ghia model to it !!! This was way back in the days when most cars didn't have rev counters !!!!

Have had far to many cars to list them all, Mk1 XR2's, Mk2 Escort 1600 Sport's, BMW 323i, BMW 732i, Fiat 132 Super Mirafiori, Sunbeam Ti, XR3 and XR3i's, Quite a few XR4x4's, 3dr Cossie, Saph Cossie 4x4, Escort Cossie, FRS, ST220.

And now i drive a 1996 Golf TDi thats done 220k !!!!!!!!!!

first car around 1991(17) was a modded and mint Renault 5 gordini turbo
then 6 months later i got a mint MK2 black RS2000 lowered on brooklands rims etc ,whilst owning that i got a mint black with silver striped (and matching trim)mk 1 fiesta supersport(lowered and on Yoko 50's(quite new at the time..lol) polished and painted orig rims, quad cibies etc) and whilst owning those other 2 fords i also brought a mint series one RS turbo which had a 1.9 fitted later on.......oh the good old days....

oh and ALL were insured and used on the road....what i paid back then for insurance cover still makes me cry

Makes a pleasant change to hear someone taking a different path than the norm these days, seems all to easy to get drawn into a life of drugs and depression etc. Thankfully we dont have that where i live and my son has turned out really well, saved his money from an early age, took a job at the weekends and has now left school and started an apprenticeship to be a plumber, bought and paid for his own car and pays for his own insurance, the way it should be really. Have to help them out along the way a wee bit but great satisfaction to see them making something of themselves.

Off topic again but re the TDC marks on my Audi again !!!! The inspection hole in the bellhousing, there is no marks as such to line up on it, there are 2 marks on the flywheel, a 0 and also about 3 or 4 teeth further on there is a mark like a 1, take it i line up the 0 as being TDC ??? And does it just line up with the edge of the inspection hole, sort of just before the mark cant be seen if you know what i mean !!!!

Off topic again but re the TDC marks on my Audi again !!!! Nice to hear it mate...... he`s made a good decision getting a decent trade behind him...

On the Audi subject,i will have a mooch at Sticker Pauls later and see how everything lines up... may be able to get a pic of the TDC mark at the bellhousing.

Will have a look if i have any Audi technical sheets too...
